If you react with intensity to being the passive person in an encounter, and you thrill to the fact that someone else makes all the moves, you're experiencing something similar to the rush of submission.

If you react or respond strongly when you are the person making all the moves and are the instigator during an activity, relationship, erotic encounter or even vanilla type events, you're a leader and are experiencing something similar to the rush of Dominance.

If sometimes you get turned on because being the passive person really trips your trigger, and at other times your blood pumps faster when you're in control, then you can pretty well say to yourself, "hey! I'm switchy!"

TexasMaam pretty much nailed it on the head.

I did not know when I entered into this lifestyle that there was such a thing as 'switch'. I knew I liked being dominated, but that also there was this dominant streak in me as well. I went to a local munch and in discussion found out that there were other people like me.

The great thing is that I happened to come across someone that was a switch also and I married him! I could not him get away!

Whom do you want to be?  Because being a switch is not easy.

Well, from what i've seen switches can be one of two things. They can either alternate roles with one partner, or take on different roles with different partners. So, if you have one partner, and either experiment with both roles or want to do so, you may be a switch. If you look at one person and say "I'd love them to dominate me", and look at another and say "I'd love to dominate them", then you may be a switch.

Hell, you could be a switch becuase you SAY you're a a switch.

Maybe this is just for me, but I have noticed that, when I am being dominated, the idea of it thrills me, and I will do wnat I can to be dominated, not to please the dom however, but to please my own needs. I did not relise that at first, but as time went on, I found it to be try, and though I was not being "disobediant" was was never fully submiting. It is, in my eyes, the switch who is one one hand, the most selfish being, but on the other hand, the most giving and willing. When I dominate, my sub's happyness is very important to me. I wonder how they are feeling though it all, and at times, give them some controle to leed them to being fully satisfyed. I think that, it is a mentality like this, that is what a switch is. But then, I'm only 21, and know next to nothing still.

I hope that, maybe this was helpful, and I can't wait to hear what others have to say about it.

Interesting stuff, I am mostly dominant, but in the distant past experemented with self-bondage, and later let a girl friend tie me up, and enjoyed. I find that 99% of the time I want to be on top, but just sometimes I have a mood for being dominated, so I regard\myself as a switch, but mostly dom

I am mostly dom and maybe twice a year I get the itch to let my boyfriend Top me. But to your question if you enjoy being on either end of the whip, chances are you are a switch. Switches are great because in my opinion they get to enjoy being either dom or sub and it doesn't get stale after awhile. Please don't feel you HAVE to pick a side, thats nonsense be who you are and do what makes you happy. After all, isn't that what it is all about?

 I derive alot of pleasure pleasing a woman , and by that I mean topping if thats what she desires , however , if I'm ever lucky enough to find a woman who tops me I feel like I would prolly let loose and enjoy my own feelings in my own body.
I have had to Dominate in my past experience simply because she desired that , therefore , I really wonder if the term switch applies to me?
