No, you're not being silly. Some diseases cannot even be prevented by condoms and cannot be tested for - hpv or genital warts are examples of this. I don't know why keeping yourself healthy should be looked upon as undesirable or unsublike. Why should you be criticized for taking care of yourself? Any Dom looking to be with you on a regular basis should be proud to own such healthy property. Although I guess the guys who are complaining are upset that they won't be getting any and are trying to change your mind, but if it's important to you then don't give in to their pressure. It's like the signs at the carnival saying you must be this high to ride; if this is what you want before sex then this is what you ask for and don't be talked out of it. A requirement is a requirement, it isn't waived for anyone or it loses its power. Especially in the case of STD's, you have unsafe sex with someone once and you may pay a price. My friend got genital warts from someone who assured her he was clean and tested. He wasn't. He thought sleeping with a nurse (prior to my friend) would prevent him from catching anything because she was in the health field and this was what his professions of cleanliness were based on. Idiot. It's not like you are making these guys jump through hoops in order to get the prize, this is a reasonable request and it works both ways. The guy you eventually sleep with will have the comforting knowledge that he's not infecting himself with std's coming from you.
