The President of the USA recently stated that if the Bush Tax cuts were not removed, the goverment would have to drop $700 Billion in federal spending. As it stands, Mr. Obama is for a tax cut for the bottom 98% of Americans (those who make under $250K/year), while disallowing the upper 2% (composed of largely persons who earn multiple millions, if not tens of millions) from saving $100,000/year. What could any of us, do with a free $100,000....

The $700 Billion in cuts, would mean more lay-offs, of not just goverment employees, but companies that do business with the goverment (resulting in more lay offs). Less people working, means less money being given to third tier companies, which results in even more lay-offs. All this, to give the upper 2% of Americans a free $100,000 on their taxes.

The President did note, that even if someone was making a figure above the $250K/year, would only be taxed at the higher rate, for income that exceeds $250k/year. So, if someone makes $680K/year, they are taxed at the higher rate for the 430K earned that year, not the full amount.

Now I've heard the arguement, that if this goes through, it will hurt job growth. I actually see it as insentive to employ more Americans. More Americans workings, would mean more profit potential to companies. The increase profit potential would draw more investors to those companies. Companies using USD's and growing stronger when other countries are stagnant growth; results in our currency being raised in value (making the debt cheaper to pay off). Everybody wins (well, us Americans, that is).

So the President essentially stated: Vote Democrat in November if your for the bottom 98% of Americans, or vote Republican if your for the upper 2% of wealthy people. But, Republicans are against the bottom 98% of Americans on this issue. Its a no-brainer to myself. Even if I won the Powerball jackpot tonight, I would STILL, be for the President's position.

That money belongs to the Taxpayers, not to "the government" to spend.

This is from the same guy who assured us Healthcare reform would bring down the rising cost of healthcare that is crippling us ??

" And it's not hard to find reasons why the president's signature issue is unpopular. During the long health care debate, the president told voters over and over the law would bring down rising health care costs and save them money.

So far, that's not happening. An analysis from Medicare shows health care costs will increase through 2019 as a result of the law.

Last week at his news conference, Obama seemed to back off a bit from his earlier claims, saying he never expected to extend insurance coverage to 31 million people "for free." The White House insists that over the long term costs will go down. But apparently not until costs go up some more. "

http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2010/09/13/will-health-care-reform-become-more-popular-like-w-h-says/

He seems to change his tune AFTER his bills are passed.

So tell me again, why I should support him in this latest smoke and mirrors parlor trick ?

Joether,

Hun, I hate to inform you, but the Powerball is at $94 million (estimated $51.1 million cash value) this evening. That bitch is mine!

boi

PS. And I'll also still be behind eliminating the Bush tax cuts when I win.

Every penny, and goes towards USA interests. Generally domestically, but some of it abroad, for US embassies, bases, and other interests. But most of it gets spent right here in the 50 states. The Defense Industry would have to lay off tens of thousands of middle class employees if the budget for Defense was reduced by $400 Billion (half the current budget). I happen to know several familites that earn their income from defense companies. If the choice was:

A) Allow those families, and others I dont know, to suffer unemployment, and raise the chances of foreclosures, and other hazards to come about.

OR

B) Forcing the upper 2% of Americans to pay at the rate Mr. Obama is proposing, on their taxes.

Gosh, gee, popeye, I'd have to go with answer 'B'.

Your lack of a basic understanding of logic astounds me.

No see. this is how it works..... a conservative wants all the benefits of government with out the taxes.

Taxes are evil and the money from taxes goes to welfare programs.

see?

Government jobs are still just pushing the same pile of money around. Every time it stops, the greedy pocket more.

Until we have significant exports again, it is not going to change, and any measure, no matter how beneficial, will only be temporary.
