They shouldnt have to beg someone to examine whats behind these fish deaths..that aint normal, no matter what the cause!

At the very least, some tests would be taken by a university group for educational purposes. Still, an image like that, if its not photo-shopped, does beg the question "what happened'? It could be any number of reasons, not just as a result of BP's spill. While I dont like BP, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, until more evidence points to their accountibility on the matter.

DUH actually oil is mentioned five times however, they arent blaming oil... yet, Im not counting comments what is your issue? Im glad that you dismiss all those millions of dead critters because it isnt oil related phew what a relief no big surprise there tho eh...

Also, I agree with Lucylastic comment that this catastrophic event should be fully investigated until a clear conclusion can be reached. Considering the amount of toxins BP is dumping into the gulf it is a major suspect. If sufficient effort will be put into it, I do not doubt, the conclusion can be reached.

That article is a very fast dismissal of Nungesser's concerns. While the explanation that Olivia gave is plausible, so to are Nungesser's concerns that the digestion of the oil lead to a large volume of oxygen depleted water. While it may be tough to ascertain an exact cause of oxygen depletion, if there was oil in the water, there ought to be some trace elements that should show up. If nobody's done some mass spectroscopy on the fish and compared tissues to previous years, I wouldn't accept that explanation as definitive. Sam PS- Tom- if you're referring to the magnificent derriere as Lucy's avatar, that ass is neither dumb, nor stupid- the word you're looking for is stupendous. It's easy to see how you could confuse stupid with stupendous, the first four letters are the same. The meaning's a little different though....

Methane also robs sea water of it`s oxygen. Microbes digesting oil,also deplete sea water of it`s oxygen,creating huge dead zones where fish suffocate. The shrillness of insanity's denials shows he`s worried that the oil spill and methane release is behind this kill. How dare you stupid asses consider the obvious![8D]

Oil is actually mentioned in the OP link in the second to last paragraph. "Many scientists have feared that an influx of oil-eating microbes would lead to more Gulf Coast dead zones, since the microbes use large amounts of oxygen when they consume the oil particles produced by chemical dispersants."
