pahunkboy -> SS Disibility rumour- ? (9/16/2010 10:55:21 AM)
A friend of mine called all upset.
I looked at SS, Chapmans newsletter and Channel 16 website.
In regards to Social Security disability- people under 55 will be cut off or cut- and people 55 and over would be given more.
I see nothing online to this effect. If anyone can source the story that was actually said on NNEP TV, in regards to any cuts- could you let us know?
She is quite upset.

There was a news story that more people were looking into being qualified for SSDI due to the high unemplyment rates.
Maybe she was referring to something related to that.

Hi Ang,
The best I can figure is that PA pays a small addition to SSI- it was cut once- so maybe that is what they mean. I see nothing in my search.
I know they talk about over hauling SS- but it seems that news would be everywhere.

It might be a state thing, vs federal. My husband is on Disability and we haven't heard anything. However, I did hear they are issuing employee cutbacks at the state level, (WA).
The following link is locally in my state, PA may be following suit. Perhaps this is what she heard?
