I have to cash checks for work sometimes, and I go to a bank different from the one I use. They have this lil thing of pink stuff ya put your thumb on, then you press your thumb on the check. I cant even see anything when I do it, must need special lights to see the prints or something...

I was fingerprinted about 5 years ago when I got my concealed weapons permit. I had a small callous on my left forefinger that they were concerned about for some reason but after I explained why I had a callous there they were okay with it. (The callous was due to being a carpenter and installing a lot of cabinets with screws. Holding the screws with my left hand while starting them with the drill in my right hand.) I had the impression that she thought I was trying to change my fingerprints or something.

Only time ive been fingerprinted is for immigration purposes. Needed them done when I applied for status here. Ocourse they do scan when Im flying to the US, but not prints

I've only been fingerprinted twice when I have applied for state firearms licenses. Last time was pretty slick. The machine has a glass pane that they spray with some clear liquid. No ink.

Since poise want this on track..... I used to sell art on Ebay, along with a few other things. So I was getting checks from all over the country quite a bit. I had to get fingerprinted in order to either cash them or deposit them.... I don't recall which. So, other than that time as a teen..... I don't remember whether I got printed for doing government consulting or not. I know there was a background check involved. But I've had a ton of background checks taken. Jeff

I was fingerprinted to be licensed as a substitute teacher. Unhappily, it took three separate times (and three payments to the police station, and three different submissions) before the prints were good enough to be accepted. Unlike Sub4hire, who has smooth fingers, my fingertips are way wrinkled. (Always have been, not an age thing). The underlying distinguishing whorls and whatnot are thus difficult to see. Oh well, I'm off to a life of committing undetectable crime. January

I have had a thumb print because that is what they do in California when getting a drivers license. No other prints have been taken. But I do know that there are a few check cashing places that make you give a full set of prints to get into their check cashing system. No way would I do that.

Fast Reply - I have been finger printed and had background checks for a couple of different jobs. One for cashiering and the other for social service position.

Cali nope, Calfornia isn't special at all. They do it here as well. Generally when you are at the bank they don't ask you for ID. Though they will ask for your thumb print on the check. It is truly amazing. There is no real crime here, just stupid crap. Check fraud is the number one crime around here. Yet, nobody checks your ID anywhere. We have the occasional murder but it is nothing like any other states. So, bring your stolen checks and credit cards here they take them everywhere including the local mini mart. No ID ever required. No questions asked.
