Status: offline 		I got fingerprinted the other day and realized that I'm 42 and this is the first time I have ever been fingerprinted.
Have you ever been printed and if so why?
I was fingerprinted in order to coach my daughter's soccer team.
They now do background checks. I didn't mind at all.

Status: offline 		The libraries at both my secondary schools took fingerprints instead of using cards. Joining those two schools were the only times I've ever given prints.

Yep, numerous times.  The military.  Jobs...the most extensive was when we moved to the midwest and I went to work for the jail system here.  They even did forearm prints.  Back of hand..palms..sides the whole works.

I don't know.  I don't have a single tattoo.  I was cured of that the day I went into the military at 21 and they said.  "Any tattoos, that is how we track you"  Well, I never wanted to be tracked. 

I've worked for the school system in the past.  Well lots of fingerprints over the years and only the one time they did the forearm. 
Never the back of my hand before either.  Of course now they have those slick scanners to do it all.  No ink anymore.

Status: offline 		The scanners aren't that reliable, though-the one at school couldn't tell the difference between me and a girl a couple of years below-she had to show the librarian her bus pass the first time to prove she wasn't me...

Status: offline 		I have been fingerprinted so many times I can't count them all. When I worked for "The Government", the job I had required I be fingerprinted every year...Not sure why, as I don't think fingerprints change.
I guess fingerprinting is a way of life now. My daughter works in the cafeteria at her daughters school and she had to get fingerprinted. They did not print her forearms but they did take pictures. Not sure what that would identify, but they did it.

Actually fingerprints rub off.  Both of my index fingers have no prints at least for now.  A couple other fingers are worn down as well.  I know this because..I tan..around here they use a fingerprint scanner.  Most of the time they can't read mine anymore.

The people there said it was because I work with so much paper and cardboard that...gradually they wear off.  They will come back eventually...if I stop working. 

Of course that has nothing to do with the school system checking yours once a year.  Though it was a bit of trivia I've learned in the last year that I knew nothing of.

Status: offline 		I was a Girl Scout leader for three years and was surprised that I wasn't required to get a background check. I'm 90% certain that Boy Scout leaders are required.

Status: offline 		I recently had my fingerprints taken, again, as part of the five year clearance update for my clearance. I have a feeling they will include a DNA sample in the not too distant future.

It is becoming more and more prevalent to have prints run through the system as part of background checks.

Status: offline 		I got fingerprinted when I joined the Army and when I went to work for the school system.  They also do the thumb print for a drivers license here.

I dont mind.  All the bad shit I did was far enough back, I am sure the statute of limitations has run out by now.

I dont mind it at all.

There was a case in the papers a while ago-I'm not sure of the details-some guy was stuck outside the UK (or was it the US? I don't remember) because he'd had cancer (or another serious disease) which had changed (destroyed?) his fingerprints and immigration wouldn't believe him.

Status: offline 		I was fingerprinted twice......first time was in 1979....a little misunderstanding with the authorities
The 2nd time was in 1986 for my position within the government. Thankfully, the 1979 event was a non-issue
in being hired. Im also grateful they didnt need my dna, as Im afraid of needles.

Status: offline 		Drivers license, cashing a check at a bank other than mine, children's birth certificates, seems so common that I don't really think about it. Might have given one when I opened my last bank account, can't remember.

You could make it a 2-in-1 deal. If you spit in the 'right' person's face, not only do they have all the DNA they need, but they'll take you somewhere for yet another fingerprinting 'misunderstanding'.

I can't imagine being printed for those. I've never seen a machine in a bank.
