Letting Down My Gaurd
By Veronica

The beauty of womanhood,
The ability of a man to dominate me so,
The thought of commitment,
That we’ve yet to consummate,
As we two go through our days,
There are things that I simply don’t know how to express;
Words I simply don’t know how to say.

How does a woman like me catch such strong feelings,
For a guy like you?
The least expected.

A plethora of heartbreak, neglect and pain;
Repressed emotions,
Broken dreams,
That can no longer be contained.
Shattered glass,
Pierced flesh,
I’ve bathed in my blood and sorrows.
Shedding my skin as I grow.

You are like no other,
I ache for you to see.
How much you have come to mean to me.

I sit and wonder….
Do you see my fear?
Hear my pain?
Do you see the emotion within my eyes?

Promise if I let down my guard
That you wont betray my trust,
That you will be loyal and true.
Promise that you will give me the respect that I give to you.

For you,
For us,
For me,
I want to let down my guard.

I want to feel vulnerable,
I want to feel safe,
I want you to see,
The beauty, passion and love that burns deep inside of me.

I suppose it is a contradiction to say "I want to feel vulnerable/safe"...yet love and hate are also contrary feelings and ideas. I sort of understand what you mean by those feelings. I think every woman feels them at some point. Perhaps, it's why we reach out to others so much, and yearn to be heard. I have heard you on this one, so at least you know one person, took time to understand and give pause & query.
