I like the lady.

But she is not presidential material.

Ron Paul.   Tho they will kill him if he won.   Like Kennedy--

Obama left the senate to serve his country in another office. Palin left to serve her wallet. And the country, as a whole, understands the difference.

Sarah dearest left her post as Governor of Alaska because she had a chance to make those big bucks doing speaking engagements and appearing on FOX NEWS.

Obama left the Senate for the power of being President.

I can't find fault with either of them for those choices.

I do not find fault with Palin for making money, but her decision means we can't trust her to run for office and stick with it. Taking political office is a commitment, and politicians call it "public service". I do see a difference in going on to a different job of public service and quitting to serve yourself.

I certainly can.

She is running around the country talking about restoring honor.

What was honorable about her quitting on the people of Alaska who elected her?

How about Eisenhower? Or Nixon? Or Reagan? I think Clinton was already out of office when he ran.

Jesus, RML, I thought I was kidding about something being very wrong with you.

Well Richie, there are exceptions to every rule.

And not to split hairs, but Nixon was a sitting Vice-President when he ran against Kennedy, Reagan was Governor of California when he ran for the Republican nomination in 1968, and Clinton was Governor of Arkansas when he was elected President.

But let's move on to more recent history, the 2008 Presidential election.

The top four competitors for the Republican nomination were Senator John McCain, Mike Huckabee, who began his campaign as Governor of Arkansas, Mitt Romney, who initiated his campaign while Governor of Massachusetts, and Congressman Ron Paul.

On the Democratic side we have Senator Barack Obama, Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Joe Biden, Senator Chris Dodd, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, and Governor Bill Richardson.

You only make yourself look more like you've had a stroke with every lurching dance step you take, RML.

Think this through. Do you really want to get this into a discussion of the political and executive experience of Presidential contenders and wanna-be's? You sure as hell didn't want to talk about that when President Obama was still candidate Barry!

Moonhead -> RE: Place your bets........ (9/19/2010 11:28:06 AM)

He's not talking about experience, he's talking about abandoning an elected post because the appointee can't take the pressure. Can you cite an example of the Kenyan doing that, or is it just Palin who decided she'd rather do lecture tours than work for a living?

Fellow -> RE: Place your bets........ (9/19/2010 11:47:46 AM)

My bet is the political landscape two years from now will be totally different. People will not give a damn about such small topics.

Sure, let's talk about that much-vaunted "executive experience".

If experience is so important then why are the teabaggers promoting so many candidates with absolutely no experience at anything?

Can you say Christine O'Donnell?

Edited to add that I talked all the time about how ridiculous your "executive experience" arguments were.

And considering you told me that Palin's "executive experience" would win McCain the presidency I find it hard to believe you're not completely embarrassed to even bring up that subject.

Mind you, you can see why McCain was so popular with many on here: he had plenty of experience taking it up the arse...

Just as ready as I've always been.

But your bland dismissals do not constitute a discussion.

That's twice now, just in this thread, that you have tucked your tail between your legs and run off without addressing the points raised.

We need a new term, I think.

Hmmm, Palin Derangement Syndrome (PDS)?  Nah, overused.

How about SAD?  (Sarah Affective Disorder)?  Nope, already in use for a different illness.

No, wait! ...

SAP ... (Sarah Affective Prognosis)!

Or, even better how about ... STUPD (Sarah Terminal Urinal Disorder: Because she just pisses him off!)?

That would mean that you could call people who can't stop thinking about her as either SAPs or STUPDs.  [:D]

And you believe your snarkings are worth my time, because...?

Hell, RML, you are playground equipment, and you don't post in good faith. Get over yourself.

Besides, I think you are already experiencing consequences of your blood pressure and high fat diet.

As far as I can remember, she is the only one. Now I can remember at the time, wishing that Granholm would follow her lead and quit, but she didn't[:(]

Its the term 'executive" that has him confused. Its the modifiers, Libs can't seem to process them. It's sad really.

Why would executive experience be relevant to sitting on a comitee?

Speaking of O'Donnell, check out the chicken action around :31 of this YouTube clip...it's a Taiwanese view on the Tea Party, Palin, and O'Donnell.
