Well, an important democrat Politician once refered to there being 57 states.

I mean what could be stupider than that. Not noticing 31 days in June, compared to 57 states.

You don't get it, do you? If someone else makes a mistake, it is just that, a mistake. If Rush makes a mistake, it's because he is soooooo stupid and people will spend days, if not weeks talking about it.

luckydawg -> RE: Rush and Wiki (9/19/2010 4:08:42 PM)

You can be just as witty as jon stewart, if ya keep trying.

Quoting wikipedia is not a mistake, it is an intentional decision

You know, you sound just like Sanity when you accuse me of having a crush on you... makes ya wonder, do you guys share a brain cell, or are you the same person

It is rather amusing that you can dish out the insults, but you are really rather poor sported about having them thrust back at you, another trait you share with other right wing posters[8|]

Yes one of us doesn't get it.

News, "entertainers" who have audiences who take every word they say as news, even people who just refer to themselves in the business as commentators have a different standard.  Not checking your facts before you say something is not a mistake, it's a fatal error.  It is a blatant disregard for anything resembling ethics.  So much for the "excellence in broadcasting".

Berating people for citing wiki and then turning around and getting caught quoting false information from wiki, that's stupid.

luckydawg -> RE: Rush and Wiki (9/19/2010 4:41:47 PM)

Still, all about me. I guess having a crippled daddy makes a girl's thoughts start to stray

Shoots, I can insult with the best of em. But I toss an insult in with a political statement ususally. Unlike a lot of the fat pasty democratics do.

So then you consider Dan Rather and CBS news to be without ethics?

Then what do you call it when a news station gets their facts wrong?

http://www.mediaite.com/online/olympian-mistake-nbc-confuses-michael-j-fox-with-terry-fox/

I don't remember anyone starting a thread talking about what assholes they were for stating facts that weren't.

I don't have a "daddy", and still you accuse me of making it personal, when you are the one doing so by bringing up my love life...You are the one that insulted flcouple over Jon Stewart and then you twist it to be about insulting you... fucking hilarious

Wow, you truly take the cake, dude...

In the instance you are referring to yes.  That was a complete ethical failing on Rather's part and a complete disregard for journalistic integrity.

Too many organizations have become consumed with being the first one to report rather than the proper fact checking required to confirm a story.

thornhappy -> RE: Rush and Wiki (9/19/2010 4:53:56 PM)

Generally he gets steamed if people don't call him a journalist, but if his whoppers are pointed out he declares that he's just an entertainer.  I've known a lot of folks that believe every word he (and Reilly, Beck, Boortz, etc.) says.

DS,

I understand perfectly.  Rush is about making Rush money.  If the facts get in the way they're not needed.

My problem is that this sloppy fact checking and in some cases just making up what you wish  happens over and over with many of the right wing "entertainers".  The problem being that their audiences take everything they say as gospel. Then they run around spreading the misinformation and using it to base their choices on.

sad fat pasty white folks.

In the summer or the winter?  Is that why people got up in arms about the tanning tax?  So Republicans couldn't be tan to distinguish themselves from Democrats?  [:D]

That was what it was, stupid.  Somebody mixed up their Fox's and didn't bother to make sure they were correct.  That should have earned someone a pink slip.
