Toppingfrmbottom -> Daddy and I have a bet going. (9/21/2010 9:39:24 PM)

Well that's nice then cause I  am always open to new friends, and ageplay friendly ones are nice too!

I've been trying to convince Daddy that we should give up all un necessary expenditures, like gamefly and netflix and WOW , to save a little bit of money an get on top of some bills and stuff,

I would cut out spending  too and he's like no you won't I know you, so I said fine I go a whole month with out spending a dime on anything that's not necessary, and then, he said and then I will do ask you asked and put gamefly, netflix and WOW on hold for a couple months.

He's been nice enough to start the bet beginning of October, cause he knows I have something that means a lot to me coming down the pike, and he's kind enough to allow that to come on down and pass, and I told him I will need to buy glasses and a birthday card for my brother, to which he replied no problem, those are needs and won't count towards our bet.

He doesn't believe I'll be able to do it, he knows how much I adore shopping and allow the compulsion to buy needlessly ride me, .  But it's become a personal challenge now, so you'all just watch, I'mma gonna do it just to watch him eat crow:P

Kyttyn, you think my obsession with shopping will win out?  Who knows it might, an then I'd be the one eating crow huh ehehehe.

However I do pretty well when I put my mind to it, of not spending.

If I can be frank for a moment, and hopefully not hurt any feelings...You have mentioned before once upon a time that money was tight, bills were piling up, and still you shopped. So what makes this time different? Just cuz ya made a bet? lol Good luck. You seem to have my shopping streak. See a sale and CHARRRRRGE it! lol

Not including the fact the holidays are upon us.  I know I've started Christmas shopping already and I can go month's to years without spending extra money.

Me, too, me, too! Before you start, I think you should agree on a budget for holiday expenditures because you might see the perfect gift on sale before the month is over.

Kyttyn, yes, you may be frank and not hurt my feelings. I did open this door after all, but thanks for worrying about hurting my feelings.

I do, I see a good sale and if it's irresistible it's a battle cry of TO THE STORE POST HASTE!

Sometimes I am super good at not spending, almost OCD like, I go so far I won't even spend a dime that's not necessary,  provided I can shut out the sales and not "see them" Sometimes even if I do see them, I can still be super good. It's sort of like a high , or like someone who once they detox off that illegal substance or addiction of their choice, and work on their issues can stay clean for years.

This month of no s hopping will work probably because once you* and generic you* throw down on me, say I can't or I won't.......... then it becomes a personal challenge an I have something to prove. Plus throw in the fact you'll* again generic you, not any one here*  finally do something I have been after you for a long time, well shit you just sharpened my want to succeed stick.

Yes, it is. Holiday shopping would be considered a necessary item under our agreement. Provided I wasn't buying like 20 gifts for 3 people. I don't have very many people to shop for, I just shop for Daddy, my parents, and maybe a friend if I have any friends who I am exchanging gifts for.

DesFIP -> RE: Daddy and I have a bet going. (9/22/2010 9:36:58 AM)

Instead of all or nothing, how about setting a budget. You get $10 or $20 or whatever you can afford to spend frivolously. And pay off the bills with the rest.

MistressLavinia -> RE: Daddy and I have a bet going. (9/22/2010 11:17:06 AM)

Sometimes if your personality is competitive - the bet might make you stronger in your conviction, so it might be a good idea. But I agree with DesFIP, at least if you budget yourself and give a little to yourself, you'll still get treats and pay those bills off.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Daddy and I have a bet going. (9/22/2010 2:12:15 PM)

Desfip, I've done that before, It can work, yes, it's just if I get in the store, I have a hard time getting out with just 10 or 20. I honestly prefer to just go all or nothing.

Plus, it's more of a challange not to surplus spend at all, and it's funner to rub it in that I did it, with a harder challange hehehe.

I agree to that view....when I was dating my ex money was a huge topic as we were quite the extreme opposits in that respect and he also considered I would not be able to stick to it (in our case it was about staying within our agreed budget....which was...his decided budget, not really our agreed one but never mind...) and he got so bossy to claim that he would not lighten up towards me until i stay within my budget....well, against his view about me I then stood in the budget, following which he blamed me that now all of a sudden we would have a daughter and father relatiionship (which was bs, yes we are 14 years apart but nowhere near a father and daugther relationship) and that i would be too obedient [8|][8|][8|]

well, soon later I then gave up on him...he is just happier on his own and would always come up with excuses....however from that experience I do know that I can do much better financially when I feel it a bit like a competition or maybe to please a person or however you wanna see it....I simply enjoyed to proof him wrong even when it didn't help us ever to move further on together [:)] But that being said, he is still my best friend and the most important person in life, so just because we decided to call it a day does not mean i have hard feelings about him.

Good luck with it tfb but in general I would also go the way of a budget and then try to stick with it in the longterm....something I am now getting into again to work on it to get myself ready to leave the UK in the nearer future....[:)]

I like your goal.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Daddy and I have a bet going. (9/22/2010 3:57:38 PM)

We'll eventually budget, but right now, there;s absolutely no need to be spending anything not necessary, and we don't need things like gamefly and netflix and WOW. They're neat sure, but they only drain the budget of other stuff we could be spending that money on.

In a few months we'll re instate them an then only one from each service, instead of the 4 games out an 3 movies he'd like, which is far cheaper to do.

We've set up budgets before, in the past and he's ironically the one who can't stick to it, while I do perfectly.
