Real0ne -> how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 12:16:31 AM)

Oh and why or why not?  LOL

I went to wiki to grab a generic definition and did a LOL on the matter after reading this.  Just goes to show you how our law has drifted from the very foundations.

Crimes commonly considered to be felonies include, but are not limited to: aggravated assault and/or battery, arson, burglary, illegal drug use/sales, grand theft, robbery, murder, rape, and vandalism on federal property. Broadly, felonies can be categorized as either violent or non-violent (property and drug) offenses.

hint: there is a common denominator involved.

Jail sentance of more that a year is what defines a felony from a misdemenor in the US.

mnottertail -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 5:59:21 AM)

Well, after reading all the way thru and getting the hint, it appears that the common denominator is that they are all felonies, but not all the felonies.

I don't think there is much more available to glean from this.

The whole spirit of the law is gone. Second DUI in Indiana is a felony. A thief must count the money he steals, and sometimes give change back (?!?) to avoid a felony. It's ridiculous. And drug use ? bullshit.

What people consider normal is a bunch of bullshit. Plain and simple.

I am not sure what the point of this thread is anyways.  I do know the telling factor between a felony and a misdemeanor is the length of time that you can be sentenced.

mnottertail -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 8:22:50 AM)

It will either relate to the crown, the holocaust, the twin towers, maritime law, or the magna charta, or tesla.

But whatever it is, it will be buncombe.

You can fuckin' quote me.

Tesla?  As in Nikola?  As in the coil?  As in the character in the movie The Prestige that pretty much kept cloning himself?  (David Bowie, I think)

I am so unsure what crime has to do with Tesla.  In fact, I am kind of scared to know.

Jeffff -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 5:12:00 PM)

All felonies are committed by Jews who either survived, oops I mean ENJOYED the concentration camps....oops I mean the countryside villas, or their descendants.

See? it's easy.

.

Let me guess, logic and rationality has nothing to do with this thread.

Jeffff -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 6:09:10 PM)

I don't know WHY you would think that....................................

Aylee -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/22/2010 8:18:42 PM)

Umm. . . I think it was the whole Nikola Tesla with felonies and misdemeanors.  I still do not see the connection and am not sure I want to.

The other things I could put off to crazy.

Apparently you missed the poster of this thread commenting on what he believes is the Holocaust hoax.

According to RealOne they were actually resort-like facilities that the Nazis used to protect the Jews.

Yes, I hear that cyanide just does wonders for the complexion.

Actually, I am still trying to figure out the Tesla connection.  It is eluding me at this time.

Okay, I can deal with crazy.

I think  that this is the same poster that will feed me to the alligators when I do not agree with him.

Do not get me wrong, I believe in a smaller government and with out so many entitlements.

However, I really do not think that those opinions should make me gator food.

And I am still trying to figure out what Tesla had to do with the economy now.  It just cannot be alternate current causing the stock market to crash.  Such a line of coincidence would just be silly.

And yes, as a student of history I can pick out lines of happenstance.  I just do  not think that this is one.

I am surprised that the OP has not come back to this thread.  An actual question would have been nice.  This is opposed to all this conjecture.

If you are saying what I think you are saying you get a gold star!

Here I will explain where what is "presumed" as law is like you said bullshit and list the common denominator.

Arguably:

Crimes commonly considered to be felonies include,

aggravated assault = somebody got an ouee.
battery = somebody got an ouee.
arson = somebody got an ouee.
burglary = somebody got an ouee.
grand theft = somebody got an ouee.
robbery = somebody got an ouee.
murder = somebody got an ouee.
rape = somebody got an ouee.
vandalism = somebody got an ouee.

Broadly, felonies can be categorized as either violent or non-violent (property and drug) offenses.

illegal drug use/sales = somebody had some fun OOPS!

How did that get in there?

Which is to say

illegal drug use/sales = NO-Body got an ouee OOPS!

I am frankly surprised that no one here has taken even the least issue with the move the legislature courts are making to usurp your rights.  It is their sworn oath to protect your rights ya know.

The implications on this are without limit and this sort of LAWLESSNESS by gubmint should be abrogated.

Its all right in front of everyone's eyes and always has been.

DomKen -> RE: how many of these are truly felonies and which are not? (9/26/2010 1:38:47 AM)

By your standard no financial crime would be a felony. Madoff would simply be guilty of a few misdemeanors. I think the sane portion of the populace can agree that Madoff needs to spend more than 364 days in some county jail.

Felonies are serious crimes against society. They do not need to be violent.

As to illegal drugs there are civil liberties arguments to be made about their legality and the variation in punishment based on quantity and specific type of drug but there are far too many very dangerous substances that people can and will abuse to do away with the controlled substance act. Opiates and rohypnol for instance.

I think his point is that drug offenses don't have any victims. For example, if I take cocaine, it is indeed a crime under the status quo, however, there are no victims who suffer from this so-called crime. Moreover, if I sell you cocaine, there is no victim in that transaction. It would merely be a voluntary transaction between two consenting adults. However, if I sold you baby powder and induced you to pay vastly inflated prices by convincing you that said baby powder was actually cocaine, then you would be a victim of fraud.
I think his point is that the government creates a crime out of thin air without actually producing a victim. A component that many people would deem necessary for a criminal act.

A financial crime is grand theft.... therefore a felony.
