TeeGO -> Sub male friends? (4/23/2006 7:00:45 PM)

I was just wondering how common it is for male Doms to be close friends with male subs?

Wulfchyld -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/23/2006 7:05:46 PM)

Dominant or submissive shouldn’t have any bearing on friendship. I welcome friendship with anyone and hope my slave will be my best friend in the whole world. So don’t let the distinction of D/s get in the way of friendship.

My former Dom had many sub male friends and no dominant friends. He didn't even realize this until I pointed it out to him, he just naturally was more compatible with people that were on the sub side I think.... Not sure why this was, nor was he

Like Wulfchyld said, it shouldn't matter. There's male submissives that I like and respect.

I wonder if vanilla males would have more trouble with male submissives though... food for thought.

Only the ones that turn into doms on Friday and Saturday nights [8D]

Seriously, I have friends that are Dom/mes and subs and encourage my boys to also have these kinds of interactions as long as play isn't part of the "regular" arrangement with those people.

Why would it not be common?

FangsNfeet -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/25/2006 11:15:39 PM)

I have friends that are straight, gay, bi, dom, sub, switch, and everything in between. Just because a guy says he's a sub does not mean that he will be submissive to me. Either way, I do have male friends that are submissive in there relationships and I don't judge there decission. I don't find it uncommon at all to be having a male sub as a friend of mine.

Reasonable -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/26/2006 4:19:28 AM)

Unless one happens to be gay(or homophobic)-it's of no real interest to most males what each other's sexual orientations are. It seems to matter a great deal more to females.

IronBear -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/26/2006 11:04:58 AM)

One of my best friends is a non Gorean Domme who owns a male sub. Bothare personal friends. there are times like when he is working on my comp or similar whilst respect is there it is easy to forget that he is a sub 24/7...

Hmm, interesting thread. This got me thinking and I did realize that I dont have any close friends who are male subs. Almost all of my friends are either female submissives or Dominants, or Male dominants. Thats not to say I hold prejudices against any male submissives, I dont. But as to why I dont have close friendships with them. I think thats more because I very rarely encounter them at the places I frequent so I never get the chance to know them.

I don't know, that's why I was asking.  I do have a good friend that is a Dom.

Isara -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/30/2006 8:19:07 AM)

While not a Master [;)] as a Mistress I have submissive/slave friends. Hell, I often go to the "Subby Munches" that are held around these parts. It's good gossip time ;)  Dominance and Submission are facets of personal relationships for me. No, that doesn't make sense ;) Clearly I'm tired. Nevertheless I hope my point is made. I have friends who are gay/straight vanilla/kinky. As long as I -like- the person. I don't see Dominance or Submission getting in the way of our relationship, any more then gender or sexual preference would for example

feastie -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/30/2006 8:49:31 AM)

I'm not a master or a male sub, I'm a female submissive and I have friends who have all different orientations.  It doesn't matter what their orientation is to me.  I value them as a person and a friend.

OTKkindaGirl -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/30/2006 9:07:18 AM)

My best friend and i became friends before we knew about each other well enough to figure it out.  i am always attracted to dominant personalities but had no idea she was in the lifestyle or a Domme with slaves of her own. We are friends first and not in a Domme/sub relationship with each other.  i imagine it isn't any different for you guys once you break through the barriers the vanilla world sets before you.

topcat -> RE: Sub male friends? (4/30/2006 10:36:02 AM)

Dear TeeGo-

a fair amount of my friends are male submissives, and I find it very unusual that the dynamic enters in to these friendships in anyway. I find that a male dominant/ male submissive friendship makes for a great team for working the room when going stag to a club or event- you can pimp each other shamelessly, you can, by way of some sort of impromptue demo, display your respective skills.

Actually, as I think of it, a sub is my first choice for wingman in the scene.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

Logicaly I would say it shouldn't matter..... However, whilst I have and have had in the past, good friendships with Fellow Doms, Dommes, switches of both genders and Female subs I have never been on more than nodding aquaintence terms with a Male sub. Coincidence? It certainly hasn't been a consious choise.
