I always get a little put off by cons harking back to the good ol` days.

Of segregation and lynchings,red-lining and discrimination, lead paint and asbestos,anti-misogyny laws and a glass ceiling covered with concrete, back before child labor laws and the 40 work-week, when if you couldn`t work are were broke, you basically slowly starved.

"conservative" by its very nature seems to attract "traditionalists" because they want to "conserve" what they see as their past and cultural traditions. It is a fairly rose colored view of the past, and sometimes completely revisionist.

People made the same mistakes since the dawn of time, otherwise their bible wouldn't be relevant to them anymore, would it? To glorify people of the past as somehow being more honorable, honest, less greedy, more moral, etc etc etc is just irrational

Oh... Good grief. I don't even know who this woman is. I don't think that there is anything wrong with discouraging teens from having sex. Because even birth control fails and only way to be sure you aren't making a baby or getting a STI is not have sex/sexual contact.

But seriously? To think she is going to stop the country from having sex? What's she going to do, run around with speakers blaring the noise of nails on a chalkboard at all lover's lanes?

I always wondered about the pre-marital sex & chastity types.  Does that seem practical if you've never married?  They expected me to never fornicate or "hold my own"?  I'm 51 ferchrissake!

No you should deny your natural instincts, ignore every pleasurable aspect of sex  andprove you can think only pure thoughts every minute of every day of your life
or at least lie thru your teeth effectively

Well, funny thing is the girl has had sex.

quote:

Stop it with all those "41-year-old virgin" jokes, OK? Delaware Senate candidate and anti-masturbation activist Christine O'Donnell has totally had sex. She admitted it in 2004, to the Wilmington News Journal, in a piece about her lawsuit against the Intercollegiate Studies Institute for gender discrimination:

And while people who recognize her from TV may think she's always been a Christian leader and activist, that wasn't so. Her family was Catholic, but her parents weren't strict.

It was in college at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey that O'Donnell did things she regrets -- drinking too much and having sex with guys with whom there wasn't a strong emotional connection. But it was also during college that she found her faith again and chose to live a life of chastity.

And on the upside, she's at least taken herself out of the gene pool... thank god!

And how obnoxious are most other "born again virgins", what about nasty assed reformed smokers, gawd they are the worst
my sister became a born again christian and I have never heard so much self righteous," if I can you MUST" crap in my entire life.
I can understand chastity, but my own definition includes lots of teasing and denial,  with my decision on release. But  for myself, yeah...Id rather pull my eyes out thru my nostrils

Fifty-one years of fornicating outside of marriage.

You will rot in hell.
