I like Stephen Colbert and his comedic alter ego because they get down to the root of the issue.  Form follows function, and I approve of his form of communication because it is functional.

Too many people today, I think, Americans especially, look down on one form or another because it doesn't fit their idea of propriety.

It has nothing to do with propriety, it is recognition that his humor is based on hyperbole and distortion. If you are able to parse out the facts from his schtick, more power to you. Most people cant. Hell, most veiwers think that Stewart presents real news, not comedy.
Perhaps Douchebaggers think Stewart is reporting real news, a la Faux Gnus, but I don't know any Progressives who believe Jon Stewart is anything more than a political comedic-commentator.

You dumb bastards are falling for your own propaganda. Keep catapulting it!

Wanna know something sad, younger people get their news from Stewart, not because they do not realize he is a comedian, but because the cable networks suck so badly they feel that they might as well get their news from a clown[:(]

See Willbeur, that's the thing, Stewart does present real news.  He just points out absurdities in the news, just as Colbert does by parodying O'Reilly.

If you want to talk about people who can't tell facts from hyperbole and distortion then you need to talk to a Limbaugh fan.

Oh wait..... nevermind..............that would mean you would be talking to yourself.

RML: "Things like this just make a mockery of our legislative process." Our legislative process is highly worthy of mockery, if ya ask me.

Agreed, but no need to make it worse.

It can get worse? Oh no, I just uttered the phrase of doom, I'm so sorry everyone. [:(]

He at least was an author.

Nonetheless, Colbert could have had real input on important issue. Too bad he couldn't take it seriously.

Edited to add: Wait. Lemme think. It was a Dim-controlled committee. Never mind [:D]

I love how certain people on this board have a fairly predictable view on the world

I wonder how y'all will spin it when all the teabagger candidates go down in s screaming burning inferno on election day?

Some candidates supported by the Tea Party will win, some will lose.

It certainly does, though, shape up to be a BIG win for America.

I bet many many more lose than win

I agree. Unlike those wanks in the Republiturd party, I will not defend someone who generally agrees with my point of view when he is wrong. I do not CARE if he was invited to testify before Congress. Colbert should have pointed out that he is in entertainment, not politics, and gone on with his show. WTF? This is an example of why no one trusts our Congress.

I've got the same opinion of actors testifying in Congress.  Some will portray a person in a movie about a given issue/problem/etc. and bang!  They are an instant expert.

You are the most predictable (and predictably wrong) person on this board. Even Lucyelastic gets it right now and then.

I bet she even spells your name right, now and then.

Or was that a clever, witty Willbeurism?

Lucylastic -> RE: Stephen Colbert draws attention to self, then farmworkers during Hill appearance (9/27/2010 3:21:25 PM)

if hes claiming that its a clever wilburism, its not because if he had half a brain the whole name is a Lucyism

Projecting anything on black holes of knowledge, logic and understanding is a waste, it just gets sucked in, never to see the light of day again.

Lucylastic -> RE: Stephen Colbert draws attention to self, then farmworkers during Hill appearance (9/27/2010 4:34:29 PM)

you wouldnt recognize knowledge, and understanding if it gave you a blow job.
Plus your logic is bifurcated and sloppy

Yours is non-existent. Any time you want to debate anything based on facts and not emotion, have at it. You never have, because you arent capable of it. You fall into name calling and sycophancy, just as you have in this thread.

Lucylastic -> RE: Stephen Colbert draws attention to self, then farmworkers during Hill appearance (9/27/2010 5:30:49 PM)

I never have denied I argue, debate emotionally, because of that I also bring sources, I post because I "feel" a certain way about a subject..I dont make apologies for emotion.
capability has nothing to do with it, its my  perogative to post when and what I wish,
I refuse to suffer fools gladly.

I might not either, but I am willing to take one for my country just to test the theory.
