This is old news of a sort....but with Apple buying up one firm and others in the offing, I was wondering if people with real experience with this sort of software feel that there is a risk in posting your picture online? The software was revealed in 2007 and a few days ago a friend of mine called after reading about the Apple acquisition, to express fear that her employer could locate her this way.....her photo being on an alternative lifestyle site. Here was the initial 2007 announcement.... http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/01/070105-photo-search.html ...the software .... http://www.polarrose.com/ Plus....as noted above, Apple has now bought the firm. Am I understanding the technology correctly; i.e. one can match a picture you send in...being able to take an image of a person (from any angle?...a matching angle?....) and then find all (I'd guess "close to") the pictures of that person on the net and identify the sites where it is located. That all seems too far fetched to me....what is the reality? I have no idea how this works in detail and was curious what the reality is. MC
