The republican party should have renamed itself the capitalist party a long time ago. It is they who are acting on behalf of corporate America and the investor class. They believe society's salvation is found in worshiping at the alter of profits.

Sadly the Dems are in the lobbyists' pockets as well. That's why I always find this drivel about the Kenyan being a Marxist so hilarious...

"John Boehner, the Republican House leader who will become Speaker if Democrats lose control of the House in the upcoming midterms, recently offered his solution to the current economic crisis: “Liquidate labor, liquidate stocks, liquidate the farmer, liquidate real estate. It will purge the rottenness out of the system. People will work harder, lead a more moral life.”
Actually, those weren’t Boehner’s words. They were uttered by Herbert Hoover’s treasury secretary, millionaire industrialist Andrew Mellon, after the Great Crash of 1929.

But they might as well have been Boehner’s because Hoover’s and Mellon’s means of purging the rottenness was by doing exactly what Boehner and his colleagues are now calling for: shrink government, cut the federal deficit, reduce the national debt, and balance the budget.

And we all know what happened after 1929, at least until FDR reversed course.

Boehner and other Republicans would even like to roll back the New Deal and get rid of Barack Obama’s smaller deal health-care law.

The issue isn’t just economic. We’re back to tough love. The basic idea is force people to live with the consequences of whatever happens to them.

In the late 19th century it was called Social Darwinism. Only the fittest should survive, and any effort to save the less fit will undermine the moral fiber of society."

Reich, as usual, nails it. The rethugs really do not give a shit about anyone except the white investment class. The older I get, the more I despise fucks like Boner.

Actually, Reich didn't nail anything other than to trot out the same old liberal accusations and the falsehood that F. D. R. "saved" the country.  For a clearer view of what actually happened during F. D. R.s time, try giving Amity Shlaes book "The Forgotten Man" more than a cursory glance.

Yeah, FDR saved the country like the stimulus package saved or created 1 million jobs.

"What does it mean when a country denies basic social provisions to the young, poor, elderly and those suffering from tragedies and hardships that are not of their own making and which cannot be addressed through the call to individual responsibility? What happens when the war on poverty becomes the war on the poor? What does it mean when the political state cedes its power to corporate power? Where is America going when it turns its back on its own children, condemning them to a life of poverty, hopelessness and immeasurable suffering? What happens to a country when 44 million people live in poverty and one in five youth live below the poverty line and a majority of politicians believe it is better to extend tax cuts for the ultra rich rather than invest in jobs, education, health care and the future? In part, it means that youth are no longer viewed as a social investment or as a marker of adult social responsibility. Instead, young people today become an excess burden and are handed over to the marketing experts and the advocates of privatization and commodification. They attend schools that treat them like robots or criminals while the most creative and brilliant teachers are deskilled, reduced to either technicians or cheerleaders for the billionaires' educational reform efforts. They are no longer children to be nurtured, but a new market waiting to be mined for profits or an army used to fight immoral wars. When deemed necessary, these objectified youth are to be locked up away from the glitter of the shopping malls and the scrubbed and gated middle- and ruling-class communities that float above the dark cesspools of inequality they help to create."

Mr Rogers, that's true but there's no reason to make the mistake of whoring one's self out to the Democrats instead.
You don't correct one mistake by making another.
Obama was talking about a "pathway to citizenship" for illegal aliens again which went over like a lead balloon so you *know* he's in the pockets of big business now! Certainly he knows that the American People want no part of that so where is he getting that from?

While we're using inductive reasoning to vilify people. I thought I should bring up the threat posed by vegetarians. They say: "I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord's work." Well actually that quote belongs to Hitler, but Hitler was a vegetarian so vegetarians might as well be saying that!
