MstrTiger -> Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:32:14 PM)

An insane person has messaged me constantly from around 40 or so different profiles, every time I block him he makes a new profile, I have messaged admin though apparently there is very little they can do about it, does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about dealing with this problem?

mnottertail -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:37:58 PM)

yeah, ignore it, when it happens, just do not answer, he will go to greener pastures soon

kiwisub12 -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:39:59 PM)

I think you should give up on domination, move to the States and become my pet -  oh , did i mention that you should become straight too?

Seriously, i don't think there is much you can do  -  unless of course, you know who this person is outside of collarme, and can confront them.  I'm thinking the lack of response on your part would eventually bore the pants off said stalker.  So my advice is to block and ignore.

Lockit -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:43:59 PM)

This is what I did. I hid my profile and created another with no picture. I could still get email with my hidden profile, from people I already knew. You can come and go and the stalker type won't see you. Stay gone for a long while. Then when you come back with this profile the stalker type will most likely have moved on.

Or simply block and move on... don't let it bug you and don't react. I have a few that have messed with me, with only one serious and I had him before I got here. lol

MstrTiger -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:44:08 PM)

He has been doing it for the past 4 months so I don't think he is planning on giving up anytime soon.

Lockit -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:48:35 PM)

I have one that continues to this day... He was one of my site firsts and I've been here a few years. Don't worry about people with no life and a kinky nature that like to mess with you. There isn't much he can do unless you have given him personal information. The more power you give him, the better he likes it. In fact, he ought to really like this thread if he follows any posting that you do, as it proves he is getting to you. Don't give him his get off moment.

marie2 -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:48:41 PM)

40 different accounts? How do you know for sure it's the same person? What do the emails say?

MstrTiger -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:51:51 PM)

It is the same deranged and bizarre questions generally in block capitals, at the moment he has been asking me if I am suffering from a serious illness, before that he was asking if I was suffering from a mental breakdown.

He is seriously quite insane.

MIsabelah -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 1:55:16 PM)

Ignore him. Don't read the emails. And don't block him either. If you have given him personal information then save those emails and find out his IP address...and report him to law enforcement. Or simply get another profile account. But you are giving him too much power.

MstrTiger -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 2:14:55 PM)

If admin gave me his IP address or used it to block him from using the site properly rather than just individually deleting his profiles when he makes a new one then it would solve a lot of problems. There is a system where you can block people from messaging you if they do not fit a prescribed criteria it would be nice if that had a option which includes profiles that have been made less than 2 weeks ago.

Lockit -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 2:22:20 PM)

I had a disgruntled person who would have loved to find a way to prove I was a bad guy and get my IP from the site. How can the site give you the IP of anyone? Unless you are law enforcement or something, I don't see that happening. The guy bugs you, he may be insane, but you can't blame the site for his actions, nor should they have to cater to every insane person creating problems and redo their site.

This guy seems to have picked the perfect candidate. Half of the problem here is that you react and are trying to get something even pay sites don't give.

Buck up...

New profile is usually the only way to really shake someone like that. I've had to resort to it a few times. Start the new profile now so you go to it at any time. Don't put your picture on it, but say you'll send a pic upon request. List yourself in a different state with a slightly different height and weight, just to throw him off his pattern. Even change your age: one year older or younger doesn't matter much. Say what you say about yourself in a different way, emphasizing some interests or ideas more, deemphasizing others that were prominent on your older profile. Respond honestly to the people who aren't the stalker, explaining frankly to them what your real demographics are and why you made the changes.

If he continues to you haunt you on the current profile hide it, don't delete it. You may need to hide it for about 6-12months until he "forgets' about you or toddles off to some other site. In the meantime, make yourself at home in your new profile, and if he ever writes delete the email unread. You can do that these days. Mouseover the email without opening it and you'll see the first paragraph. If it's mr. block letters, delete unread and put the profile on ignore. Don't respond back or he may figure out it is you. It's hard not having a picture on your profile. You get less interest, less responses. But sometimes, in order to shake a stalker, it's the only way to go.

If this person is really getting to you, making your experience here miserable, I would also suggest leaving collarme for a while. Get your profile up on some other kink personals sites for a few months. Try to enjoy your time there. Then come back... to a brand new profile. A three month dead trail and then activating a new profile with different demographics usually works to shake even the most persisitent.

Set up a meet with him and you and "my little friend."

VideoAdminAlpha -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 2:32:37 PM)

We get this request a lot in regard to abusive users, spammers, scammers, and generally anyone who is disliked by the person writing in. Unfortunately,preventing someone from making accounts on the website, while sounding like a very sensible idea to many users, is in reality a completely irrational concept in regard to today's Internet. To see why this is so, you must first understand that upwards of 96% of users browsing this (or any other) website are coming in from commodity broadband DSL and cable connections. In an effort to cut costs and reuse limited resources, Broadband Internet Service Providers (ISPs) long ago switched to using dynamic IP addresses for these connections which rotate frequently and can be changed effortlessly by the customer. Blocking one of these IP address would not achieve the objective of keeping the intended person off the site and would create confusion for the next innocent person who attempts to access the site with that assigned IP. Furthermore, because many ISPs such as AOL use "proxy" IP addresses, blocking one IP address in the hope of keeping a single user off of a website can unintentionally block hundreds of thousands of innocent users in seconds. Nevertheless, some websites continue to perpetuate the IP blocking myth by threatening to "permanently" block the IP address any user who dares to break their rules. This is purely a scare tactic rendered toothless by the realities today's broadband world or, as Shakespeare might say, sound and fury signifying nothing.

I am not blaming the site for his actions, I just casually suggested a few simple additions that would make things a bit more user-friendly for people in my situation.

I have not responded to any of the messages he has sent me other than perhaps the first one of two and he sent them to me some months ago, I started this thread to ask for practical advice to deal with a problem you clearly have nothing to offer other than overblown personal opinions and half baked critique, though thanks for attempting to contribute all the same.

Is that so? Anyone reading this thread can see that I tried to give you something productive that can be done that does help. I gave you practical advice and you wanted to complain a bit more because it wasn't the advice you wanted, which according to Alpha isn't something that can be done. I even eluded to that. Your only option is to buck up or go someplace else. You want to get pissy... go for it, it has no stink on me.

This sounds like a reasonable idea.

DomImus -> RE: Insane stalker! (9/28/2010 2:52:18 PM)

Assuming that the stalker reads the forums or at least follows your forum activity this thread in and of itself is a bad idea. It just feeds the fire. I know it's a hassle but you just have to grin and bear it. I probably wouldn't even bother blocking since that's really a waste of time in this case.

All I am saying is that you should not make assertions about peoples natures on a message board, it is silly.

I was not trying to blame this website for anything and I am not a feeble little idiot, I thought the whole point of a message board was to get a range of different peoples opinions. If you are going to spend your time just using them as a tool to bolster your ego by asserting that your opinion is the only one of any real value then you are eventually just going to end up annoying more people than you are helping.

I also do not think many people are interested in hearing how stinky you are and I am also not sure what relevance your personal hygiene has on the overarching topic.
