Good evening all. I have been on CM for years now, thank you all for your informative responses in the past. Tonight I am trying to think up a creative punishment for myself. I had disobeyed a direct order from my Master.. At the time, I thought was I was doing was right. I know going forward, it is not my place to think, it is my place "to do" as he says. He has put me in charge of what punishment he thinks I should have. I am searching outside the box this evening. Putting aside the typical wire hanger or electric cord beating. Any suggestions? I don't do punishment/reward. So I can't help ya there, OP. I suggest that you write up a paper on what you did and why, why it was wrong, and how you will avoid making the same mistake again. What will you do instead, next time the situation arises? How will you think about it differently, to change your actions? That's not punishment, though. Its a consequence, and its to help you learn- so that the offending behavior is discontinued. Another type of consequence would be "natural consequences": the kind of thing that will naturally result from the offending behavior. Ideally, natural consequences will make you want to avoid making the same mistake. So maybe you might write something about them in your essay. For example: "As a natural consequence of a pattern of disobedience: Master's faith and trust in me will be eroded over time, and may lead to my release from his service. Therefore I will keep this in mind, and take care not to show a pattern of disobedience over time. And even one incident of purposeful disobedience may be enough to destroy what we've built, in some cases... And it just takes one incident to begin a pattern, anyway. So any instance of direct disobedience to him is to be avoided, because I deeply cherish him and his leadership, etc." Something like that- you get the idea. Try to make concrete plans, of actual things you will really think, say and do, to change. This way you can show him that you've followed through and have really changed and grown, when the situation comes up again. You can also ask him what he would like you to think, say and do instead, of course. But coming up with your own ideas may help him to see what you think would work for you. I hope this helps.

If you thought you were doing the right thing, is this because he did not express himself clearly? Because around here that kind of thing is chalked up to being human and therefore not always speaking or hearing correctly. And not subject to punishment. But honestly, if he wasn't clear, then he's at fault. So what kind of punishment does he deserve? We're big into solving the problem for the future, which may entail repeating an order to see if I got it right, him writing it down so I have it to refer to, and so on. YMMV

I am having a problem with the " at the time, I thought what I was doing was right" did something happen that changed things that had your dominant been aware of, his instructions may have changed? I am not getting the sense you simply blew off his desire in leu of your own? So do you trust your dominant to make decisions, because that is the bottom line. There is no discipline/punishment that can instill trust, least none that I am aware of

You are asking for a creative punishment, but my first question is "are you looking for a punishment that corrects your behavior or a punishment that is fun?" Any punishment that takes the form of something that you find a to be a turn-on will not encourage different behavior in the future. In fact, it will do the opposite. Don't get me wrong, I use this kind of "punishment" all the time, but I know that it is really play and will not actually change behavior. If I really want to change behavior, I have to pick a punishment that is not fun in any way. Of course what is fun and not fun is extremely personal. So, what are you asking for? New and different play "punishments" or something that actually changes behavior?
