Yes you heard that right, the National Park Service estimated the crowd at 2.13 million.

Now I know they don't put out official crowd estimates anymore, but my neighbor Stella's third ex-husband's first wife has a friend whose second cousin on her mother's side works as a landscaper for the NPS in DC and that was how many people he thought were there.

And he did really well in math when he was in school.

So there you have it, an expert estimate of the crowd size by an official of the National Park Service.

Don't pay any attention to the headline. CBS is just a little confused as usual. I mean they said there were only 87,000 people at Beck's rally but Beck was far more accurate with his estimate of 500,000. Then Michele Bachmann pegged the true number at 1.6 million.

So I'm sticking with the inside information I was lucky enough to hear about.

Tapping into the same anger that fuels the Tea Party movement, a coalition of progressive and civil rights groups marched Saturday on the Lincoln Memorial and pledged to support Democrats struggling to keep power on Capitol Hill.

"We are together. This march is about the power to the people," said MSNBC host Ed Schultz. "It is about the people standing up to the corporations. Are you ready to fight back?"

In a fiery speech that opened the "One Nation Working Together" rally on the National Mall, Schultz blamed Republicans for shipping jobs overseas and curtailing freedoms. He borrowed some of conservative commentator Glenn Beck's rhetoric and promised to "take back our country."

Yeah, CBS may have stepped on their dicks a little bit. They went with their Beck estimate, and now they are fucked on this story because it's really easy to compare pictures.

Now the Stewart Rally that is coming up... That will be a crowd, I think.

2.3 really? I watched the CBS video, and if I would have to guess, it looked like a lot less than that, I'd have a hard time believing that there were 10,000 lose...er lefties on the mall.

Ed Shultz must have had his aneurysm by now.

From the pictures Ive seen it looked to be about 1/2 - 2/3 the size of Becks. There will be comparative pictures tomorrow Im sure.

If several unions hadnt bussed in people and required their membership to attend though, I wonder how many there would have been.

I am, eh? I work with the largest unions in the country every day, and several of them required their membership to attend, including one that threatened to redistribute overtime away from those that didnt. Dont talk about something you are uninformed about.

OK, which ones? Citations?

Fuck, I belong to three large unions, and other than sending mail, they have no impact on something like this at all.

I didn't even get mail about it. In fact, I just heard about it here.

Further, since when do unions decide who gets overtime? Ever heard of management?

Or labor laws?
