No, actually the most exciting moment was explaining sarcasm to you Richie.

Which is only made more pathetic by you doing such an awful job of it. As for fun and excitement here, you aren't even as challenging as changing the fill valve on a toilet.

They are a pita on low flow toilets...another stupid law that doesnt do what it was supposed to do. Instead of flushing once you have to flush twice (4 times if youre as full of shit as RML) and use 50% more water.

Birds of a feather, those two.

I tell you what MM, why don't you show us a bright, shining example to follow by commenting on the Democratic rally.

Which is what I intended this to be about before I derailed my own thread by turning into a poke at the crowd estimate size for the Beck rally.

May I suggest changing the station?

Your computer has a remote, right?

Sniping?

Would that be anything like your comments in post #58?

At least I addressed you directly.

But the invitation to comment on the initial article was valid, as was my realization that this has not gone in the direction I intended.

The initial comments were meant as a joke to draw attention to the story, but the comments became the focus of the thread instead of the article.

Now those first generation low-flows were awful, weren't they? The designs have gotten better, I hear.

My house was built before the new one were required, and the county doesn't yet mandate replacing them when homes are sold. The only hassle here was getting clear access. In my bathroom, the counter extends all the way to the shower, creating a nice 6 inch wide shelf, but it forces you to work at an angle inside the tank. And the channel locks must have invisible legs, because they are never in the place where I put them last time.

Ok, how many people at that rally do they estimate can vote?

Re: The actual event/presentation

I watched the middle hours of the rally, so cannot say that I saw everything.  There were lots of good speakers and groups represented.   Harry Belafonte was especially inspiring...awesome really.

FR

So who was there for the rally?

quote:

In addition to the blue flag, Riss carried a yellow-and-black sign that was ubiquitous at the rally. It had a picture of Martin Luther King Jr. and said STAND AGAINST WAR & RACISM -- JOBS NOT WAR. At the bottom, it said AnswerCoalition.org, a reference to the group International ANSWER, which stands for Act Now to Stop War and End Racism. The people who run ANSWER are old-style Communists, supporters of just about every awful regime on the planet. They ran the big anti-war protests in the early months of the war in Iraq, sometimes to the embarrassment of more moderate anti-war forces. The presence of ANSWER gives any rally a touch of the extreme.

There were plenty of other extreme elements, too. The Communist Party USA took part. The War Resisters League. The Freedom Socialist Party, and several others. If the main organizers of the rally wanted to keep the kooky parts of their coalition away from public view, they didn't succeed.

And how did they get there again?

quote:

They're members of Local 79 of the Service Employees International Union, which chartered buses to bring them and hundreds of others to the rally. They left Detroit at about 8:00 pm Friday for the 13-hour drive to Washington. After spending all day at the rally, they were scheduled for a union dinner, after which they would overnight at a hotel, also paid for by Local 79.

As opposed to the teabagger rallies where their kooky parts are the main organizers?

Can you say Glenn Beck?

From the pictures Ive seen it looked to be about 1/2 - 2/3 the size of Becks. There will be comparative pictures tomorrow Im sure.

If several unions hadnt bussed in people and required their membership to attend though, I wonder how many there would have been.

You have yet to address this part of your post, willbe

ETA

I can find only one source that is insisting Union members were required to go.. but.. i know you arent going by what Breitbart is saying on his site.

Im surprised that noone has posted side by side pics of the 2 rallies yet.  (Maybe Im not looking in the right place)

Anyone seen a post like that yet?

cuckoldmepls -> RE: 2.13 million attend Dem Rally at the National Mall (10/4/2010 10:42:16 AM)

Well sure democrats have more people attending rallies. Hell, most democrats are on welfare. They don't have to worry about losing wages from taking time off.

Musicmystery -> RE: 2.13 million attend Dem Rally at the National Mall (10/4/2010 10:50:51 AM)

Not according to the Pew Research center.

Income under $75,000 over $75,000
% of Democrats 74% over, 26% under
% of Independents 72% over, 28% under
% of Republicans 57% over 43% under

I agree that there are just as many wealthy democrats as republicans who have benefitted from our capitalistic system, but common sense would tell you that the reason some people are wealthy is that they failed to pay enough taxes to fund the government for over 50 years. That doesn't mean we should raise income taxes or backdoor taxes though. What it means is that the government needs to control their spending. I think most people would agree that the maximum city sales tax, state, and federal governments should ask for should be 10% each.

In the old days they didn't even pay back their college loans. These days instead of selling their nice car, they get on food stamps so they don't have to accept a lower standard of living. So basically, a lot of parents are shirking their responsibility and not supporting their kids and making the government support them. Once again, that is not the parent's fault. It is the fault of government in allowing it.

My question is what are these democrats protesting for?
More welfare?
More backdoor taxes since everyone would notice an income tax increase?
More unconstitutional federal government taking over every aspect of our lives?
More out of control spending?
More attempts to circumvent the constitution by nominating liberal supreme court justices?
More pacification of terrorists? In the old days there was no negotiating with terrorists. You know why. Once they learn that you will negotiate with them or pay ransom, they keep doing it.
