I've noticed a disturbing trend in my postings.  I came here to post on BDSM topics but more and more I find myself posting in the political area.  I'm not really a military expert; I'm just a former butterbar lieutenant who spent a lot more time taking orders than giving them and a reporter who likes to keep up with what is going on.  Again, I'm not an expert, so I really wonder if I'm doing any good.  I don't seem to be putting out any of the fires and I sure as hell don't really want to fan them.

Maybe the best thing would just to be to op out of the offtopic categories.  Frankly, I'm pretty much torn between the two options.

I've thoroughly enjoyed your ''off topic'' posts. They've always been logical, knowledgeable and incisive. I know for me.... I become very bored reading and posting to re-hashed threads regarding topics like ''No limit slaves'' and every lady or dude who's upset because they've received a rude e-mail.

I mean seriously..... 9 -11 can be debated all day, but how munch can any one person stand to constantly re-hash the topic of ''rude e-mails'' LMAO!!!

Anyways.... I especially like your views/comments on China, having been there. I say keep posting.

If the mood or inspiration strikes you, then I say write regardless of the forum. Most of the men in my family have served in the military and many of them aren't around any more so I, for one, would enjoy hearing a perspective such as yours. Perhaps it won't put out any fires ::is that even possible during political discussion?:: but what a shame not to have your level 'voice' be read.

I started my online life as a blogger/political chatter/forum junkie. I was in college and I had an opinion that I thought everyone else just had to know. I still have most of the same opinions, but I hold them for different reasons. I mention this because I am avoiding the political parts of this board for the most part and being silent because I made a conscious decision that I needed to be more tolerant of OP's opinions and views. I do not go to peace marches anymore, I do not blog anymore, I do not try to convince anyone anymore that I am right.

People will come to their own conclusions when life kicks them in the butt and they are personally affected by what those in power do (no matter their party affiliation), or they will throw good after bad and not change their minds at all. I find that my "facts" have often been a stumbling block to even some of my family members because they did not want to hear "I told you so" from me.

I understand what your post was saying and for me I am going to try to stay out of the political fray before I indulge my political addiciton again...lol

Don't stop posting. I may not agree with your opinions always but I do enjoy reading your input. No blind rants from you, just well thought out comments. Would be a loss to the boards without your comments.

Personally, I find your posts on these off-topic subjects to be very well thought out, concise and to the point; a refreshing change at times. I would hate to see you stop posting because for either of the reasons that you listed.

I say read, and, if you feel moved to post something, stop yourself, ask yourself if this is really how you want to enter into things, if this is going to really add something that you want to add, and then post if the answer is yes.

I can relate to how you are feeling. I have questioned my own motivations and impact of posting many times over. But you know what....I don't ever sign on to collarme expecting to change the world...I don't sign on expecting to transform anyone's life....I don't sign on with grand or noble intentions of doing anything other than passing time...maybe becoming educated...or maybe finding something of interest to me.

Sometimes I post...many times, especially lately I don't. Sometimes when I do I help someone....sometimes I get someone to think about something from a different perspective...sometimes someone will completely change the way I view something....and sometimes I just piss people off.

Personally, I think your silence here would be a dis-service to all who gather here. I have enjoyed your wit, your intelligence and your wisdom and it is my hope that you will continue to grace us with the gift of your thoughts.

The only thing I personally despise about some posters here on CM is that they have never served their own country in a real military way.

Some people (who shall remain un-named) seem to think they can ride the coat-tails of other Americans who actually served time in the military. Some people have loud mouths without a single thing to back their mouth up with other than mechancial rote. Some people on this forum think that if they just repeat themselves enough that all Americans will just fall in line or give up out of boredom from trying to fend off insane ideas of what they define as "patriotism".

That makes me sad beyond belief that some Americans just want to get in everyone else's faces and swing from a tree like Tarzan while waving an American flag and grunting "me better than you".

You get the idea? I do love my country, but I'm not going to grunt and say that my country is better than anyone else. My country has done a lot of good. My country has also antagonized a lot of people. That won't stop me from loving it because that is my heritage.

Take the good with the bad...just try if you can to get out and vote the bad guys down. Even our electoral college is rigged against the popular vote. I just hope and pray (in my own way) that not every country that sees the "me Tarzan...you Jane" posts from some Americans don't dismiss us all as total idiots.

Is this a reply to me?...and if so, I am totally confused by your response.
