ORIGINAL: BonesFromAsh I feel that when a woman (or man, depending on who's doing the taking) is 'taken in hand' it means the focus is taken away from that of the individual and placed on the couple as a cohesive partnership. In a way, both partners are 'taken in hand' in order to bring the best out of each other for the good of the relationship. Then again...maybe that way of thinking is too egalitarian for some people in regards to a D/s dynamic. Totally agree, and with respect to the 'too eglitarian in regards to a D/s dynamic'... this is where very careful and crafty manipulation comes in very handy. i think most relationships do best with a leader and a follower... they are roles to play; but leaders sometimes are wrong or can't be bothered and followers sometimes do not follow or even do their own thing entirely... but as long as we are good at manipulating and compromising everything back to their proper place, everybody remains happy
