"People ask me, 'What are you going to do to develop jobs in your state?' Well, that's not my job as a U.S. senator." –Sharron Angle, May 14, 2010 You asked "what is a true conservative" isn't that right, peacefulplace? And then you posted this very accurate quote of by Angle, right? I don't know why I'm going to bother to explain it to you because neither you nor your liberal ilk ever actually understand anything but you own partisan stupidity. But...what the hell...I will try it again. A conservative is someone that believes in the smallest Federal government than we can get away with. They, like the Founders, are strong proponents of state sovereignty because your state government is the one that has the most in common with you and affords you, presumably at least, the greatest chance at seeking redress. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT PART SO FAR? A conservative is someone that believes in fiscal responsibility and wants the people to elect to spend the taxpayer's money as though they were spending their own. No bullshit studies about whether potatos mate (no shit...a real multi-million dollar study) or on the dating habits of the girls at college in Syracuse, NY (no shit, a real study). They want the borders secured (which even liberals are beginning to want these days since O'shithead has deported over 400,000 illegals in the past year), they want a strong national defense. You know what the problem with national defense is? It is a lot more complicated than waiting for another nation to invade your territorial space. They want energy independence. But...realizing that the world still runs on fossil fuels, until someone comes up with a reasonable alternative, the conservative wants to drill wherever we can. The conservative certainly does not want to cap wells in the Gulf of Mexico only to allow South American and Chinese oil companies to drill in the same location. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ALL OF THAT SO FAR? Conservatives are not big on entitlements. Every able bodied person has to work to support themselves. Welfare has to be cut back or eliminated altogether. What is the old saying about the end of democracy? Democracy fails when 51% of the people feel that the other 49% will support them? No one who is not disabled should be supported by the government. There, there are some conservative precepts. No you quoted Angle about creating jobs not really being her job. She is right. How do you create a job? It is really quite simple. You let people keep the lion's share of what they earn. Some bright people will have an idea and they will invest in that idea because they have not been taxed to death and they will create a business that employs other people. If you tax people to death (and I say "to death" is more than 25% with our current exemptions), no one will have the funds to create start up businesses. It is not the politician's job to "create jobs". It is the politician's job to restrain government as much as they can to allow Americans to do what they do best; prosper.
