Call me a monster ...
I was born in a place where there was a corrupt legal system and lack of civil society (no, that doesn't mean people don't behave civily, that means there is no legal recourse for the average citizen to settle disputes or worse). Basically everything was solved by personal vandetta.
Want to know what it was like there? -- serious violent crimes were EXCEPTIONALLY rare. (Oh, and crimes like this? -- NONEXISTANT!!!)
I tend to be moderate to liberal minded BUT I'm a proponent of the death penalty in cases like this. I just wish we could do public executions that would not make them look like a martyr or hero. Hang 'em high and make it excruciatingly painful and humiliating.
