The kind that thought cybersex was quite, frankly an art form and a vessel for story and were driven from the internet (like myself), including the nearby irc chatrooms, by others who quite frankly hate story and engage in cybersex with as much shame about the english language as they can?

I know I am going to get flamed to hell, but it seems those that loved weaving a fictional tale with another person have become extinct (or just regressed) Take your pick!

I'm not going to flame you.  I think cyber is a perfectly valid way for someone who can't or doesn't want to take things to real life to express a kink.  I think it could even be a valid kink itself.  The only problem I have with it is when people string those who do want real life experiences along with it, or use it as a means to hide things from a spouse.

Although I no longer have any desire for cyber, there is something wonderful about weaving a tale with someone like minded.  A long time ago, I found myself doing just that with another female online.  I'm straight, but in the fantasy, we both had an opportunity to portray males, and to get a (probably totally skewed) idea of what that might be like. I have also done this with a gay male.  That couldn't really happen in the flesh.

The internet chatrooms are certainly not the place I'd put what I'd write. It's for chatting:

"<(^^,)>: Sup, lul !_!_!_!"

You can still find someone that will write not-so-sweet things with you or for you if you share this interest.

Personally, I prefer coming up with stories verbally, because I'm better at timing than I am at writing and my use of grammar is rather 'liberal'.

Yes- it is that fantasy element, that appetite that weaves a tale, as you said, that makes no room for your prejudices, and defences against life. An oppurtunity to explore the full range of your creativity. You can use it to have an intimate relationship with a gay man, or pretend to be a man.

It is a special kink. But I feel it's becoming lost, thanks to ever-decreasing demand and a bad rep. I know there is those out there though. In my last account, I saw rooms being set up by, usually younger, girls on the IRC, with the aim of producing one of these worlds to stimulate creativity, but i think they just got frustrated, as these rooms suffered by their own rules and a lack of popularity.

lol, well, some interest is better than none: Twoshoes.

Despite these unfortunate events, it still tells me that i'm not the only weirdo in the village!

I have always enjoyed a good fantasy story and I am fairly good at coming up with things on the spot. Blame A.D.H.D for my active brain. I have enjoyed both cyber and phone play but I will say verbal on the phone is better than cyber to me. Obviously thought both phone and cyber fall to a r/l encounter.

I hadn't thought of it that way before.  Yes, it could be done beautifully if people cared to make an effort.

Some things I saw in chatrooms were artistic and beautiful, and that is part of the reason I enjoyed going there every day.  Not for all the private messages from males that wanted a quick slap and tickle, cyberly speaking.

Storyweaving with someone I also know in real life could be fun, if the men were fun to write with and didn't jump straight to squicky crudeness.  I used to enjoy some roleplay with several people, it was a fun learning experience seeing their dreams and adding to them in small ways.  The story and their personality gave me a buzz, it was like a dance we were engaged in.

Unlike many males in chatrooms, I don't type one handed.  I don't like cyber sex either...it would make me have a fit of the giggles.

Btw, I admit I find it irritating when I am chatting with those who type in text speak or like a second grader.  If I hear yes and no and three to five word questions...they are boring as...heck.

I also miss sitting in on all the insanity of a chatroom.  I just cannot get into them anymore with this computer.  The old regulars from the Lobby are gone, so it's not the same anymore...not that the good old days were really all that good, but I still miss them anyway.

Yes, I looked at your profile...isn't that strange?

No. I regard cybersex as porn.

I do, however, love RP and frequently engage in Internet RP that has erotic scenes in addition to a great deal of plot and character growth that has nothing to do with sex whatsoever. Akin to a mystery novel that happens to have some amazing sex scenes between the characters. I do not regard this as cybersex at all.

What you are describing in the bolded section sounds more like what I do - RP, not cybering.

Edited: Just to be clear - I don't have an issue with cyber. It's simply porn to me and not about telling a story. For me, and only me, when I want porn, I go with a route that doesn't require waiting for someone else to post.

Thanks for the welcome and the profile perv, Cynthia, I couldn't have really deserved much more :)

Yes, I am familar with the 'dance' you talked about Cynthia. It is a strange thought, that I think I had more of those as a 16 year old lesbian with girls from drama class, over crummy msn, than I do with the whole world as a grown up! Perhaps I'm just a missing that certain braincell, which tells me how obvious it all is and i keep making the wrong turn! Or perhaps, I was right and the genuine creatives have been pushed out the global profilieration of the internet and now resign themselves to actual productive lives!

Yes, that is a better way to put it, AquaticSub. I like your mystery novel thing. I've yet to make a novel yet with my past logs (most lost due to bad computer maintenance,) but i'm sure i've made enough material for one whenever I got into a relationship with a bright soul :)

I've weaved quite a few tales of slave situations here for the subs to enjoy in their cm mail. They supply either their picture or a situation, and I build the story around that, always inserting them into it as the sub and me as the Dom. It's erotic for both of us, however, it seems the energy required is so great that, after a while, perhaps ten sequential emails, without meeting (generally they're in Australia, the UK, etc.), that, for some reason, it falters at about that point.

*laughs* Just be careful when you do. While I also keep logs, I would be very irked if someone actually took my posts and my characters and made an actual novel! I have heard of that happening and the people involved, who didn't consent to their writing and their characters being used, were always pissed as hell.

Though G-d knows, the lengths some of my RP partners and I go in writing, figuring out our plots and the lengths of our posts... we might as well be publishing the things!

But yes... we Internet RPers do still exist and are active in various corners of the 'Net.

You sound like a real Dark Inkling, Aquatic. I've found my own surprise and my partner's infrequent frustration of how in depth, I like to get, what places I like to go, etc. Back then, I always caught long-paragraph disease, where the paragraphs got longer and longer till the point it took a few hours to do a few minutes worth. However, the anticipation was great for each 'installment,' and i'd rather do a few minutes in a couple of hours, than a couple of hours in a few minutes. I don't think I need to find any examples, lol

If there ever is a revival. That's what we need to call the group: Dark Inklings.

That is, until we find an obviously better name.

Hmm, might be honoured, if someone adapted my logs... I think that happened to me before, pompeii, someone dropping a sex-story-chain for me to continue: confident fella, considering i'm gay'n'all. :P Could be misunderstanding you though?

Who are we kidding? I make 10-page lab reports where people content themselves with scribbling across a single ruled sheet.

In any case, this has nothing to do with fetishes or orientations; it's just how some of us are. And it's pure hell to be caught in a productivity-oriented repetitive job.

Someone writing something for me is probably the sweetest thing I can think of (although certainly not a requirement). And I absolutely adore people who appreciate my random bouts of creativity.

Sexuality doesn't involve a complete change in our personalities and we still like to share what is dearest to us with anyone 'special'. (So if you're good at making up songs, you could come up with 3 for your partner that you'd never share with anyone else. )

Growing up just means people are more selective with whom they share and how they use their time.

Btw, I admit I find it irritating when I am chatting with those who type in text speak or like a second grader.

Doesn't bother me any. I figure it's like showing up in Germany and having to adapt to the culture.

Not trying to offend anyone, Twoshoes...but after half an hour of that within a private chat and I am wondering what the guy is doing with his other hand.  Unless he would be at work, sneaking time to chat.

If someone is chatting with me and with several others all at the same time, I prefer to know so I am not wasting my time while they take so very long to write...I would prefer to be busy with something else as well and stopping into our chat every few minutes to write back.  Sometimes it's a matter of courtesy...within a private chat as in person...I wouldn't pretend to have a conversation with someone while reading a newspaper, keeping an eye on the tv, babysitting, and eating my dinner all at the same time...answering my guest in monosyllables or grunts.

For those in a chatroom, I have a lot of patience and have no problem with them lurking or typing in text speak.  When I typed chatrooms, I meant private chatrooms, as I have been unable to access any other since something like April.  Recently I cannot even get into the mailroom private chatroom and have to take it to Yahoo IM.

I see two different things: roleplaying a sexual encounter with a storyline attached, and cybersex complete with possibly audio or video feeds. The first might be creative and interesting, and the second does nothing for me whatsoever. I've had a couple of boyfriends who have enjoyed phone sex when we were apart. Since it was a kick for them, I didn't mind doing it. Any kind of video would be a hard limit - at least on my end lol.

Ah, the golden age of cyber! Gather round kidlets, and I'll tell ya about the good old days of #bisexfems on IRC... a room full of dudes pretending to be chicks, having hella-awesome cyber with other dudes pretending to be chicks.

And ya know.... I do pine for those times once in a blue one.

<And, no, I'm not shittin ya>

Dark Inkling? That is a new term to me though I've been doing the Internet RP for years and years.

There may yet be another revival. I wouldn't say that things have been declining but they are certainly different. Perhaps evolving is the better word.

We could be at the head of a revival! A new vanguard! However, I have a charisma bypass. :P

How would you say things are evolving and what are these corners of the internet you talk about, or have you said too much?...

Now i know, crazy. Thanks, I was happy in the illusion ;)

Yes, ofcourse, cynthia, when i've had real good 'roleplay,' as it might be known, I think we both have demanded total intimacy, perhaps a little more to make up for the infinite distance. Not just measured, but the forever uncoiling of an unending road, because these machines are in front of us.
