Obama is not signing this bill, which is a very recent development.

I am too lazy to read the bill, but the government intervention is clearly needed in the process. I understand, people who live in houses, and have stopped payments, would like to drag the foreclosure process forever. For the economy recovery, the housing market needs to be cleaned.

A Pocket Veto is when the President fails to sign a bill within the 10 days allowed by the Constitution. Congress must be in adjournment in order for a pocket veto to take effect. If Congress is in session and the president fails to sign the bill, it becomes law without his signature./snip

it still becomes law.

hunk, Congress is not in session at this time so, if he doesnt sign it, it does NOT becore law. It's frickin confusing but the bottom line is that he has killed it.

Someone explain that to me?

It sounds like it still becomes law.

So, a conservative, bashs the President for not doing a course of action; To which the President takes the course of action the conservative was demanding. After which, the conservative, cant be mature enough to say 'Thank you, Mr. President, for doing something good for America'. Is that to hard, for conservatives to actually do?

Just an FYI: The name of this bill is, Recognition of Notarizations Act. I had to look through about 1/2 dozen sources just to find this information. That is truely down right annoying. Wouldn't it be nice if media would publish the name of the bill, instead of referring to it as 'a bill just recently passed in Congress..."?

U.S. Constitution Article 1, Section 7: "...If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law. I read several pages of the comments- and some said the same thing.

Suppose folks figured it was a tiny tweak of the ICC?  I generally see a lot of hollering going on when folks cramp interstate commerce.

Given the foreclosure mills and the inability to determine who holds the mortgage, I think you'd be nuts to propose that law.

Yeah, the interpretations of its impact seem to be overreaching a bit, but it might need some tightening. I think the main purpose was to close a loophole whereby foreclosures could be stalled based on notarization procedures being somewhat different from state to state. Why that would give relief to mortgage holders who screwed up the paperwork somewhere along the line I dont quite see, but its not interesting enough to spend the time on.
