I've always loved Hugh Laurie.

I adored him on Blackadder.

When I first saw him on House I was thrilled!

Hugh Laurie is known to be a perfectionist in his life and so it's not surprising that he walks around with an American accent a lot.

I personally love it. It sounds better than many Americans who live and grew up here! LOL

Steven you are right, i swear though i heard him state he was Aussie on one of the interviews.  But you are right everything i just pulled up said he is "blah" English lol.  There goes the Aussie mindset i had about him.  I should have known something was wrong with him.  grins innocently.

Ahh well, i learn something new every day.

*eta:  He sounds East Coast USA to me as well.  Not New York, not NJ, not Philly... maybe DC area?

Yep, he could be one of us.  [:)]

I adore his charcter, too.  Snarky, asshole, tough, smart, dedicated, but has a soft spot deep down for his patients.

I gotta admit though,  (since I've been stuck at home a few days I've seen a bunch of House) he really does appear to practically kill his patients before curing them! [:D]

He sounds Bostonish to me. Which makes sense since Boston accents do sound a bit like upper class Brits.

but yeah, I'd do him!

Somewhat alarmingly, my friend's 17 year old daughter used those words exactly.

Well, I always said I was *mumblemumble-ty* going on 25....I guess I'm younger than I thought!  [:)]

As far as the accent, Aussie or Brit.....either way, I'll melt into a puddle.......talk to me baby!!!!!

marie2 -> RE: Hugh Laurie's American Accent in 'House'. (10/9/2010 3:36:00 AM)

I think his American accent is flawless. I had no idea he was a Brit. I was shocked as hell one day when I caught a clip of an interview he was doing and he was speaking in an English accent.

I don't find him sexy in the least, but I like the series and think he's brilliant in the part. It's the only show I turn the TV on for, so that's saying a lot.
