Status: offline 		Well today someone at the mall was selling those ceramic hair straighteners, and he did a portion of my hair to demonstrate the product, now my hair has that weird "curling iron use  " smell.


Any one know why those things make your hair smell weird? Is it like frying the hair or something?

Status: offline 		Perhaps. I've never smelled it before or since, curling irons,  and I'm not really sure why even curling irons do it though I assume they're kind of burhing your haire a bit.

Status: offline 		That smell is definitely burned hair. One has left it on the hair too long to have that odor appear.

Personally, I would avoid any product that produced it as it probably indicates something that will harm your hair with extended use.

I wholeheartedly agree.

I buy more and spend more in stores where I am not jumped by dozen of salesmen or where salesmen leave me alone until I look for them. Sometimes people need to make the final purchase decision in peace w/o feeling that they are buying something that they don't need or that they are being ripped off.

Status: offline 		We have our own cashiers in Walmart that we go to.  I love one when she was a CSM and she is now a cashier.  When she sees me coming, she gets a bottle of soda read for me to buy.  Others know that we shop as mother and daughter team (I get what she needs and my stuff *mainly yarn*) so we saved money that way *especially zingers*

When I was a sales associate for Radio Shack, I make it a point that all my customers are treated with respect.  When I was being transferred to other stores, they hunt me down, especially the radio operators.

Status: offline 		Wind, exactly, and I should of told him that yesterday, but I didn't think of it, and I'm not the only one he tried to high pressure into buying his product, the lady at Layne Bryants, who was helping me find a bra, I told her be careful there's a guy out by Orange Julias, selling his products, and he's very high pressure and very rude if you say no. She's like I know I already ran into him.

I have used curling irons daily for 30 years and I have never had them smell funny or cause any damage to my hair. I love mine.

Status: offline 		same here...have used curling irons, straightners, etc..in my hair for well over 25 years now and never once had that burnt smell.

If your hair is prone to this then there sprays they make that you put on your hair before you use the iron. You may want to try that if you decide to ever buy one.

Status: offline 		littlewonder, I wouldn't know if it was prone to it or not, because I don't believe in using heating / curling/ straitening products on my hair, but I remember that smell from the few times I was 12 and under an used a curling iron, back when I tried to experiment with curling my hair.

Status: offline 		So how come the straighteners really do keep your hair straitened, in some cases until you wash your hair again?

After he straitened my bangs for me, he's like and it'll stay straitened till you wash your hair again, and I was thinking yeah, right. But no, it's 3 days since he straitened my bangs, and they're still for the most part strait.
