I'd love to see the report that shows that there are thousands of British women walking around without clits and labias.
Seriously.

"Experts believe 74,000 first-generation African immigrant women in the UK have undergone female circumcision. Rahmat Mohammad, of the women's rights group Forward, said an estimated 7,000 girls in the UK were currently at risk of being forced into the procedure."

The second part says "at risk", not "going to have".

Female circumcision growing in Britain despite being illegal

Research commissioned by the Department of Health suggests that more than 20,000 British girls are at risk of being forced into the agonising procedure, where all or part of their external genitals are cut off and stitched up.

Again, it's "at risk".  How are they coming up with that number?

Besides, there's a domme out there who aims to castrate men.

Every once in a while I'll get an e-mail from some "org" imploring me to "help do something about forced female circumcision in Africa."
Of course they want $ and for me to either call, e-mail my congressman about it or sign some petition to the U.S. congress about it.
Why are they trying to get the U.S. involved in this? I write them back and tell them that I couldn't care less what people in Africa do and why are they trying to involve our congress in some foreign country's problem but they never respond.
I tell them, "send more machetes and axes."
Do they really think any congressman cares about this?

First, let me say that I'm not in favor of forced mutilation of anyone's genitalia. Consenting to it, on the other hand, well, I've seen stranger. What I would be interested to know, is if the OP or any of the other males on here are circumcised themselves? Also curious how many of the women who are up in arms about this topic favor uncircumcised men to circumcised? It seems a double standard that we are so bothered by one side, when here in the U.S. we circumcise millions of boys without their consent. I'm speaking as both and American and an uncircumcised male. I'm glad to see that recent numbers are showing a decline in circumcisions, but am curious to see what a forum dedicated to this topic has to say.

takemeforyourown -> RE: Female Circumcision (10/12/2010 9:14:41 PM)

As evidenced by my husband's experience; circumcised men can still have orgasms, and are statistically less-prone to penile cancer and certain STD's. I have yet to read about any benefits to females whose clitori/labia are removed.

DarkKnightseeks -> RE: Female Circumcision (10/12/2010 9:46:00 PM)

The statistical health benefits are minimal at best and while it may have some affect on STD's condoms are more effective and don't require mutilation. Again, I'm not saying female mutilation isn't bad and shouldn't be stopped, but American Males are not given the choice, it is being made for them and we think nothing of it. If one offends, so should the other.

either way, it is absolutely no one's place to decide what is and is not appropriate for a body which is not your own.

Tell that to the government. And some political parties...ugh.

because theirs a difference, the forskin of a mans penis has very little nerve endings in it, where clit removal is removing the ENTIRE nerve bundle.

Male circumcision does not leave the male unable to cum ever again,

Female circumcision, is aimed at removing all parts of the females genitalia that can lead to her enjoying or having pleasure from sexual intercourse, as well as seriously hindering her ability to become sexually aroused.

Male circumcision, has a .03% risk of infection

Female circumcision has a 17% risk of infection. Higher in places where its done illegally.

Male circumcision isn't by drs considered mutilation regardless of your opinions on it, because its doing nothing but removing excess skin.

Female circumcision is considered mutilation because its removing entire PARTS of the females genitalia.

IF male circumcision involved cutting off the head of the penis, it might be comparable, but seeing as its just a bit of foreskin its not really all that comparable.

- from a woman who loves uncut penis just as much as cut penis.

NOW we are trying to regulate and make rules and laws for others to follow and obey.

ie marijuana laws in Califonia. Look at all the lives that it has ruined.

Remember the 173 's of Germany.

If you like rules and laws, how about a rule about showing proof about disease and drug negativity.

dvart,

I normally don't get involved with discussions regarding body mod, as some of what people endure is a bit unsettling to me.  However...I went to the Guardian site and watched the video on FGM.

Since the target of that film revolved around school children of a very young age, I think the issue is consent.   An adult undergoing this procedure of their own free will is nothing more then someone participating in body mod.  I am assuming the person on CM is of a consentual age.

Lisa
