Just found this article and found it interesting.

The male determines the sex of the baby.

I haven't read either of the articles on the links yet, but I have 4 boys and 2 grandsons. Where do I pick up my Honorary Domme badge?

DesFIP -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/12/2010 5:01:27 PM)

I have a higher than average testosterone level, and the shoulders of a football player, and am submissive with one daughter and one son. Apparently I'm an outlier on her charts.

Science is moving on in leaps and bounds. Your link is the old way of thinking.

BurntKitty -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 2:50:14 AM)

That explains a lot.  I have one son, and raised him alone.  I taught him how to play hockey, took him to games, and also watch baseball, & football together.
I always thought boys toys were a lot more fun than girls' stuff.  I had a creepy crawlers bug maker growing up & my older sister had an EZ bake oven.

It's only now that he's an adult I dress very feminine & frilly.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 3:10:19 AM)

Kiwis RULE!!!!   (she is from New Zealand)

and i'm as submissive as the day is long and had two girls, so for at least me, her theory pans out.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 5:29:11 AM)

I agree the article was very interesting. It would seem that her theory brings into focus that our human bodies are complex - just saying the sperm determines the sex simply because we knew that the male sperm carried either the x or y chromosome, was perhaps over simplifying what is truly a complex balance of chemistry and chance. I include chance, because it seems that no matter how hard we try to manipulate and assure procreation, it still sometimes seems to come down to a crap shoot. Hmm, some might even replace chance with the concept of Divine Intervention!

She does make some compelling arguments backed up with what seems to be accepted as scientific data. Very interesting!

I know that I always pined for a girl, until I lived with a guy who had four of them...I am since thrilled and thankful that if I had to have a full set of one or the other, that I was blessed with boys! Guess I just popped out those little vultures I was most suited to raise. Makes sense.

tazzygirl -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 6:25:30 AM)

I have slave tendencies and produced and raised a boy alone.

My mother is very dominant, and i was the third child the family with two older and two younger brothers.

Her theory does not pan out for either of us.

lizi -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 7:33:49 AM)

Interesting article. I have 3 boys and am submissive. I am, however, a very confident woman who is comfortable taking charge. I can kind of agree with the author's theory that women have the type of children they are suited to raise, I feel very well suited to have raised boys. I definitely would have been more at a loss with girls.

Lucylastic -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 8:01:48 AM)

I has a girl(eldest) and two boys.
My 2 sisters have all boys, but im the domme out of the 3 of us.

allthatjaz -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 8:34:20 AM)

I found this part fascinating: Grant has new research published this month which, she says, puts her theory on a firmer footing and yet again turns reproductive biology on its head. What she has come up with is a mechanism that has proved (albeit in cows, which sounds odd but is considered an acceptable model) that levels of testosterone in the follicles (which produce the egg) reliably predict the sex of the embryo and, more startling, that the egg may well come out already adapted to receive an X or Y chromosome-bearing sperm. In lay terms this means that the female has already “decided” which sex offspring to have before sperm get involved.

I only ever met my father once and he arrogantly told me 'your mother wanted a daughter and so I gave her one'. I would of loved to of turned round and retorted, 'well actually she chose, you just aided her'.

Missokyst -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 9:16:34 AM)

Hmm.... my mother had 1 boy and 3 girls, of the girls I was probably the girliest, but I have often taken charge. I have 2 boys and two girls. My sister who was a butt kicking, take charge type has 2 girls. My other sister has 2 boys and two girls. My brother, has one son and 3 daughters. My bothers wife was very aggressive, played sports, coached the softball team and also track.
Statistics are nice, but oh so easy to manipulate.

Reading this thread hurts me. You know that all your experiences are statistically irrelevant, right? She says herself that her research has nothing to do with the majority of women-only those with markedly high or low testosterone levels. So any 'well I'm the ubersubmissivest submissive ever and I have three boys' stories you're posting really don't demonstrate anything or affect the validity (either positively or negatively) of her research.

Gah. I knew I shouldn't have clicked when I saw the title.

fastination -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 10:14:16 AM)

It has been scientifically proven that if your biological parents don't have any children, then you won't either.

Thanks for pointing that out VC [:)] One really does need to read the entire link to understand that and she does point out that what has happened in this thread is exactly what to expect because most people are unable to grasp that this is all according to high or low testosterone levels.

Missokyst -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 11:46:21 AM)

My ex sister-in-law was probably very high testosterone based on her activities, her rather powerful body aroma, and the facial hair that was a constant issue. She has one son. He is more fluffy than hard.
Statistical data is easy to manipulate if you choose your subjects well.

bighappygoth39 -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 12:36:45 PM)

I have no idea if I have high levels of testosterone, but I'm definitely not sub and I have two daughters and one son. My friend, who is definitely a sub, has five sons and one daughter, so I guess both of us have testosterone levels that don't necessarily match our basic tendencies. Interesting to read, though...

tazzygirl -> RE: Dominant women more likely to have sons (10/13/2010 1:11:11 PM)

Makes me wonder why this is appearing on an on line newspaper and not in a medical journal.
