Just like Sarah Palin, she is the gift that keeps on giving.

My favorite part was the nearly unintelligible statements I highlighted.

The second one is so reminiscent of Palin's interviews with Couric and Gibson it is eerie.

Del. debate proves feisty

NEWARK, Del. – Trailing by double-digits in most polls, Republican Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell went on the offensive Wednesday, attacking Democrat Chris Coons as a career politician with Marxist views who would raise taxes and rubber-stamp Democratic policies.

Coons, meanwhile, during a nationally televised debate portrayed O'Donnell as an extremist more interested in clever sound bites than offering solutions to the problems confronting the nation.

O'Donnell, a tea party favorite, has drawn attention for her comments years ago that she dabbled in witchcraft as a teenager and opposed masturbation in a crusade against premarital sex. She frequently sought Wednesday to distance herself from her past views, softening her rhetoric on issues such as homosexuality and evolution.

"We're moving past that; were talking about the issues," O'Donnell said when asked by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer why she had opened a recent television ad by declaring "I'm not a witch."

...."My opponent has recently said that it was studying under a Marxist professor that made him become a Democrat. So when you look at his position on things like raising taxes, which is one of the tenets of Marxism; not supporting eliminating death tax, which is a tenet of Marxism — I would argue that there are more people who support my Catholic faith than his Marxist beliefs," O'Donnell said.

....
The Republican was stumped at one point when asked to cite a recent Supreme Court decision with which she disagreed, saying she couldn't come up with one "off the top of my head." She said she would respond later on her website.

If Christine O'Donnell is that far behind in the polls, why does Obama feel that he needs to campaign for Coons in Deleware ? Just asking.

cuz its his job as the big guy democrat.  for someone who spends so much time opining in the political forum, its funny you dont know something as fundamental as that.

Lucylastic -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 9:00:04 AM)

I think the Pres is actually not going to go just for Coons, I think he is going to thank her for all her hard work on his behalf.

servantforuse -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 9:01:53 AM)

The President usually campaigns for those in close elections to bring out the voters. They usually don't waste the time or money in races that considered over and in the bag.

mnottertail -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 9:09:12 AM)

no races are considered over or in the bag in the off years, until they are over.

servantforuse -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 9:16:17 AM)

According to the polls, this one is over, or is it ?

DarkSteven -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 9:42:52 AM)

I doubt that anyone will change his or her vote based on that debate.

Do you typically just let "your fingers do the walking" over the keyboard.....with no regard for what you type?
Typically the President doesn't bother campaigning for Senators whose seats are not up for election this cycle either? A strange strategy ? Or just good old common sense?

Because people don't like Marxists? Because they're trying real hard to market him as a "democrat" instead of a marxist?
Because they're trying to "sell" Coons as ....."mainstream?"
"Sure he's a Marxist but he won't raise your taxes and pass laws that give more power to... "the state." "No, he won't do that!"
He's just like you!" "Doesn't everyone have polo ponies and attend the most expensive schools?"
"He made $400 K last year, he'll be keeping a sharp eye out for,........."the working man!"
"He won't be a rubber stamp for Obama, really!"

slvemike4u -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 10:21:02 AM)

Are you of the opinion that O'Donnell is "mainstream"?

Well let's see here Twisty, on the one hand you have a Marxist who'd be Obama's henchman, on the other a woman who dabbled in "witchcraft" in her teens.
Who do you think would do the most damage?

slvemike4u -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 10:33:58 AM)

"witchcraft in her teens" is just the tip of the iceberg with this one.Again I am left wondering about your oft told claim of non partisanship...seems you are much more tolerant of candidates from the right than you are of those on the left.
O'Donnell's list of wacky stances, her barely passing acquaintance with the truth where her own personal history is concerned....her highly questionable financial foibles....all of these you are willing to sweep under the rug?
You might not be a registered Republican Pops.....but you sure do dance to their funky tune .

Here we go again, evade the question.
Who do you think would do the most damage to the people of Delaware and the country, a marxist or a woman who dabbled in witchcraft?
Question 2. How much could one expect to pay for a good polo pony in Delaware?
(Mike, you turn not answering questions into an art form.)

You can blame the Senator from Massachusetts, Mr. Scott Brown for the reason. When Senator Edward Kennedy passed away, a special election was held for the position. Martha Coakley, was considered by most a 'shoe-in' for the position, and hence, the DNC did not feel a real need to worry about the race. Within the last three or four weeks of the election, the numbers shot surprisingly to Scott Brown's favor. Mostly by moderates, who were more annoyed and upset of actions Mr. Obama had taken at the time (and amusing enough, had nothing to do with Mr. Brown's abilities). By the time the DNC got off its butt to do something, the race was over. After that, its been noticed, that the Democrats view every race, including the 'sure wins' as an up hill battle. Conservatives take that to mean, Democrats will lose massive numbers of seats. The reality is, the Democrats will lose some seats, but not enough for anything in the Republican/Tea Party's favor.

That's REALLY the reason, servantforuse. Give the Democrats a few years to 'cool off', and you may not see them treate a race like 'Coon vs O'Donnell' quite as deeply.

except that brown turns out to be our guy when the rubber hits the road.

EternalHoH -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 12:04:47 PM)

One's a rubber stamp for Obama and the other is a rubber stamp for God.

Does my choice have to be between these two?

mnottertail -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 12:05:57 PM)

you wanna ride it bareback?

Fellow -> RE: O'Donnell, Coons face off in Senate debate (10/14/2010 12:08:53 PM)

President Obama and Mr. Coons have lot in common: both have law degree, community activist background, both are Marxists. I hope coons plays basketball; they will have good times together dreaming for better times while acting in behalf of big corporate donors.

Bullshit Pops....why should I answer a question that is as loaded as that one.Shall I ,in the answering, just concede your point that the man is a "marxist"(he is not) But to get to the root of your question.....nothing,in my view, could be more dangerous than electing nut jobs like O'Donnell or Angle(another of your favorites) or sending Paladino to Albany.
We need serious people in Washington(and as Gov's) not wack jobs who stoke the fervor of the masses with glib, though shallow, bumper sticker slogans.
I hope that answers your question.....by the way Pops just when did you stop beating your wife?
