The last series I read more than a few times was the Morgan/Challenger series by Rosemary Rogers. This was before I knew what kink was, but there was definitely a d/s dynamic between Steve and Ginny. I am currently reading Callings, by Greg Levoy, but am more likely to be found enjoying a random volume from my encyclopedia collection or some similar fact filled book.

I love her mind and her ethics and her innocence in the midst of great street smart wisdom. It's really a beautiful character portrayal. I heard the NPR program about the Zookeeper's Wife. Really an amazing story. I've not read the book, but gosh! best, sunshine p.s. Peppermint - I'm with you. I read all the John Jakes novels in high school. I credit him for making me love historical fiction. It was how history came to life for me - through the characters of his novels.

Not much into series' in general with one exception: James Lee Burke's "Dave Robicheaux" novels. I've read every one and re-read some. Best series ever, imho. I also like Greg Iles, Chelsea Cain, Linwood Barclay, Harlan Coben, Gillian Flynn, Jonathan Nasaw, Blake Crouch, Mark Nykanen and many other mystery/suspense writers. I just finished "Pretty Little Things" by Jilliane Hoffman and "Still Missing" by Chevy Stevens. I enjoyed them both alot. I'm currently reading "Last Night At The Lobster" by Stewart O'Nan. And PS....I'm the biggest book lover in the world and I love my Kindle too. You can have both, ya know[;)] luci

I used to like John McDonald's Travis McGee series. Violent, dark, with a sad morality in each one, and plots that shambled instead of going in a straight line like an Agatha Christie. Burke has all that, with real, damaged people that tug at your heart and some mindblowing descriptive abilities.

I finished the alternate history trilogy on Atlantis by Harry Turtledove a couple of moths ago. It was an interesting set of books. I just finished Antony and Cleopatra by Colleen McCullough. It was something I just happened to pick up and I will certainly be going back and reading the rest of her Modern Rome series. Why did I have to start with the last one, lol. I've read the entire set by Terry Brooks starting with the "Sword of Shannara" all the way to "The Gypsy Morph" and enjoyed everyone of them.

I love to read series of books and have so many different authors, but then I've always been a bookworm. Jonathan Kellerman - Dr Alex Delaware series his wife Faye Kellerman - Peter & Rina Decker series Ed McBain - 87th Precinct mysteries Patricia Cornwell - Kay Scarpetta Susan Wittig Albert - China Bayle Mysteries Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt series, NUMA files, Oregon Files Robert B. Parker - anything by him (but last book came out a few months ago, passed away in January I think) Kim Harrison - Rachel Morgan series Colin Forbes - Tweed & Co. series O hell, I could go on, but if I don't stop, I won't have time to read the books I have from the small but plentiful public library in town. Just started reading modern "otherworldy" books, vamps, weres, the whole shebang and I'm having fun getting lost in them.

How can this be, his novels have all been best sellers. I have read/own just about every Cussler novel ever issued. What I don't get is, he has sold nearly as many books as JK Rowling, but he can not get script approval on the movies made from his novels, even though she does. Raise The Titanic was made into a movie, but it wasn't all that great. I've also got most of his books and have re-read them countless times.

The Dresden files (series)-Jim Butcher Chuck Palahniuk - most of the shit he writes is amazing. Seriously. Neil Gaiman - Most of his stuff is similarly amazing. Also awesome guy, marrying another of my favorite people. Albeit one from music, instead of writing. Tad Williams (memory sorrow and thorn series, and otherland) Dune- most of it A few miscellaneous ones from rpgs Dragonlance, Dark Sun, Shadowrun, some of the Forgotten Realms books, Ravenloft books, etc. In terms of nonfiction, Michio Kaku is the fucking man.

Deeply, truly in love with the 'Master ;-) and Commander' series, almost as much as Raymond Chandler [The Big SLeep], CHarles Dickens, Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams Quick reads: the Dresden Files, Sookie Stackhouse, the Cadfael mysteries [medieval herbologist monk] and the dragon series by Naomi Novik [sorta like a poor man's Patrick O'Brian+Anne McCaffrey] Really disappointed in the Stieg Larsson books; thought I'd like, but they're as impersonal as a Dan Brown book.

That man touches my heart with his prose in a way no other contemporary fiction author ever has. I have been known to laugh out loud (usually at Clete) and have a hearty cry when reading these.
