Please refrain from making personal attacks on other users.

This means that you are not to attack other members by calling them names or inferring that they are derogatory things whether that is your opinion or more. While we have tried to provide a more relaxed moderation in politics and once again there are those that are taking advantage of this, it is time that you moderate yourselves or face the moderation from those whom are tired of the political antic’s you all are enjoying and complaining about. You wanted less moderation and now you want more. Do we need to make up your minds for you?

Tone down the personal attacks and name calling or some of you will experience a gag ball Collarme style.

Since it rests on a fallacy it is a failure regardless of who owns the means of production.

The Lott story has been validated six ways from sunday(what wieght one puts on his troubling peccidilo for dressing up as a Nazi is up to each individual....for myself I would find it highly disturbing).

For me, it is no more disturbing than those who dress in grey as Civil War re-enactors.  Or those folks who dress in armor and bash each other with swords on the weekend.

After all, the SS were snappy dressers.  [:D]

Now, if he shaved his head and wore those clunky looking shoes with wife beaters and suspenders and had a swastika tattoo, I would be disturbed.

I think that you should also note that he has dressed in many other uniforms (Civil War and WW 1 to name a couple) for his re-enactment activities.

Pretty much. If you're re-enacting WWII someone is going to have to be the axis.

Now if he went all science project and re-enacted Hiroshima and Nagasaki that might actually get my vote.

Well, I'm sure you'd have no problem getting the lefties to "volunteer" to be the axis characters.

No doubt the "righties" would make awesome Allies too, given the number of Tea Partiers who probably think the Kyoto Protocol is a bombing mission.

A look at the quality of cadidates backed by the Tea Party draws a disturbing picture of ideological extremism taken so far that all other considerations for fitness are ignored.
Let's look at some of the standard bearers that the Tea Party hopes to foist on America(courtesy of the New York Times...I know,I know a "liberal rag" but all the same here it is)
Christine O'Donnell(Del. Senate)....amongst other things (and what I consider most trivial) needed to begin a tv ad denouncing she was a witch...in my view her issues with the truth in her own personal history and her financial issues were much more troubling.
Tom Ganley (Ohio 13) is accused of sexual assault and attempted rape by a woman who wanted to volunteer for his campaign.
Jeff Perry (Mass 10)As a police sargeant in the 1990's he was a supervisor at the scene where an officer placed his hand in 14 year old girls underwear saying he was looking for drugs. He was reported to have accompanied the same officer to the home of a 16 year old girl to tell her parents that she had voluntarily pulled down her pants to show she was not hiding drugs.
Rich Lott (Ohio 9) dressed up as a Nazi re-enactor on weekends for years.
Jim Renacci(Ohio 16) Was assessed nearly 1,4 million(yes million) in unpaid state taxes after trying to shelter 1.4 million in income.
Dan Benishek (Mich 1) A judge found in 1995 that he had failed to report $100,000 in income in an attempt to try to reduce his child support payments
(would cheat his children....but we should trust him)
Scott DesJarias (Tenn 4)His former wife accused him of physical intimidation, pulling the trigger of an empty gun outside her door, and threatening behavior including "shoving, tripping, pushing down, etc.

Now this was just a partial list of the most eggregious of Tea Party candidates....is this how the Republican Party seeks to reclaim leadership again?.Did they not learn anything when they sold their souls to the religious right?.....Why would they once again trivialize their party by embracing such candidates?
A two party system functions best when both parties are viable....how can the Republican Party be viewed as viable when they allow themselves to be co-opted by the likes of these candidates?

Well golly gee Mike, it didn't seem to bother the Demos that they had a senator who was a ***Kliegal in the Ku Klux Klan*** for,.....how many years, 46?
Or that another demo senator killed a woman while drunk, got thrown out of Harvard for cheating, and had a father who was a Nazi sympathizer and he was in office for what, 44, 46 years?
Where was the "Outrage?"

mnottertail -> RE: The Tea Party and their chosen candidates....America's saviors? (10/16/2010 6:51:24 AM)

no, there was no democratic senator who was a kkk guy for anything approaching 40 years, and you cannot cite that.

as ususal you are considerably misinformed.

Well, not until June 22, 1941.

The domestic German communists who got sent to the death camps when the final solution geared up in the late '30s don't count, then?

Or the marxist Basques the Condor Legion dropped bombs on (pissing off Pablo Picasso) during the Spanish Civil War?

Mike, i read through your list, and many are pretty damning. How many are political accusations as opposed to actually proven incidents?

Both of the Ohio's are proven. Add to that both are used car salesman...............you do the math

Technically the Final Solution of the Jewish Question did not get fully underway until 1942.  Yes, prior to this over a million Jews had been killed in mass murders and pogroms.  There are still debates on which Jewish community was the first to be eradicated by the Final Solution.

The communists were given red badges, and by and large sent to concentration camps, not extermination camps.  The extermination camps were not built until the 40's.

Prior to Operation Barbarosa, Hitler was buddies with Uncle Joe, even though planning for Barbarosa was started over a year earlier and he and flat out said in Mein Kamf that he would invade Russia.

Moonhead -> RE: The Tea Party and their chosen candidates....America's saviors? (10/16/2010 9:49:50 AM)

Several errors there.
First, the final solution was up and running before 1942, whatever the revisionists like to claim.
Second, the demarcation between "concentration camps" and "death camps" is a lot more porous than you're suggesting.
Throughout his interviews during the 'thirties, Hitler spewed a great deal of bile at the terrible threat Marxism posed to Western civilisation. Neither he nor Stalin saw their treaty as anything other than a delaying tactic, and they certainly weren't buddies. If you want to see an example of that in '30s politics, I suggest you compare Stalin to Mussolini, in terms of how they got on with Hitler.

I take it you've some similarly half baked refutal that the Condor legion was killing Communists during the Spanish Civil War as well?

ooooo....you are out of your depth.  Define socialism and define fascism.  Try to do better than Wikepedia.  Tell me the name of a country that has fascism as a political platform.  Do you understand what I'm asking?  Define ONE country that has fascism as the political theory under which its government operates.

First, fascism is not a political theory it a political practice. It is the 'politics' of a police state where politics and the whole concept of politics...dies. There is but one policy for its polity and that is whatever the ruling party dictates.

China, N. Korea, complete police states, while Iran ranks close now with its recent murder of its own citizens.

Socialism is the predominant or total govt. ownership of the means of production (only) and even if that's all Wiki has and I don't care...tough, that is the definition.
