cuckoldmepls -> Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 11:24:13 AM)

It's over for the democrats. In two years time, the unemployment rate has done nothing but increase. Obama's only idea was to spend more taxpayer money, creating more government jobs, and more welfare programs.

It kind of sad in a way. That a man can be so arrogant, that he won't listen to the American people. All he had to do was enforce our immigration laws, and cancel NAFTA over a 10 year period, and unemployment would drop below 5% by the time his reelection bid came up, which would have almost guaranteed him another term. This would have meant that the democrats could have continued to dismantle the Constitution, eventually even throwing it completely out the window and rewriting it or not even using one at all which would mean they could do what ever they wanted. It would have also meant quite possibly an overwhelmingly liberal supreme court which would have backed them up all the way.

What fools to throw it all away.

Americans working farm labor would bring unemployment below 5%?  Novel concept.

My vision is more like crops rotting in the field for lack of labor.

No one will get rid of nafta, and if the jobs had gone to mexico and Canada , you might have a point
however as usual,  you are wrong
nothing is going to bring 8 million jobs in under five years, not no way not no how, even if they cut the tax rate to zero, companies would  just make sure it padded management and shareholders wallets, it will never bring back the jobs
too much greed
and considering your acrimony against socialism, you will pardon me if I call bullshit on your  "if only's"

Pass the DREAM Act.

Politesub53 -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 4:43:11 PM)

It only needs a glance across the Mexican border to see who has benefited most from Nafta. I can just see those on the right who scream about immigration, running to apply as farm labourers. If there is a reason for a decline in jobs it is outsourcing, and companies will continue to go where labour is cheapest.

servantforuse -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 4:54:54 PM)

November 3rd will show that his coalition has fallen apart. It will be a long 2 years for the Obama administration.

Politesub53 -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 4:58:51 PM)

The previous administration did nothing to halt the rise in the deficit, or reverse Nafta. Why would the American public think they will do any different if re-elected ?

pahunkboy -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 5:02:50 PM)

Can someone tell me how I would recognize a return to Bush policies?

I view Obama as Bushes 3rd term.   I also view the T-party as lacking- in that - some there would continue the endless wars.

Frankly I dont see any candidate who would  do something real about the investment banks- or end the 2 wars we are now in.

What am I missing?

servantforuse -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 5:31:52 PM)

We have to do something neither party has done in the past. Stop the spending. It is my hope that the new Congress will do just that.

And if Nov 3rd does not come off as you see it?
Is it than time for you to go into a "chicken little" act ?

servantforuse -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/17/2010 6:26:07 PM)

It will go the way I see it. Nancy Pelosi will not be speaker of the House.

This is only a joke Pahunk, but you can't post a straight line like that and expect me to ignore it:

Wizard of Oz Scarecrow - If I only had a brain ...

Its not as easy as it look, deficits built up by the previous administration still have to be serviced. Deals signed by the previous administration may cost more to get out of than stay in. Thats exactly the case with the two Bristish carriers the government want to halt. Labour signed a binding contract which ludicrously allows a bigger payment for stopping them being built than for actually building them. Labour have also already committed 30 % of the defence budget for the next five years. Legalities stop the conservatives from doing anything about it. I am guessing the same is true of at least some of the spending undertaken by Obamas administration.

mnottertail -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 8:39:57 AM)

we don't know, since we can't see them from the white house.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 8:45:34 AM)

the only way for them to get to the white house is to hitch hike

popeye1250 -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 4:50:20 PM)

And how is it that Nancy Pelosi can use U.S. Air Force jets for her travel?
Well, she won't be doing that for much longer.

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 5:09:49 PM)

She let palin and bachman have her brooms

servantforuse -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 5:21:25 PM)

Latest polls from Real Clear Politics. Senate, 48 ( D ) 46 ( R ) with 6 toss ups. House, 179 ( D ) 212 ( R ) with 44 toss ups. Good by Nancy...

TheHeretic -> RE: Obama coalition falling apart (10/18/2010 5:52:23 PM)

Say, Mike, I've been looking for someone willing to make the bet at $50 a seat over 218. How confidant are you REALLY feeling about the Democrats holding the House majority?
