I generally prefer IM in general to conversations via email of any sort... It's just much faster and more conversational, and as I prefer it, of course I'd want to talk via IMs as soon as the person I was talking with wanted to. (I generally prefer AIM to Yahoo, but, really, it makes no difference which protocol since I just use Pidgin anyway), I don't really see why people have a big issue with IMing... Of course if someone is unwilling to talk via mail and is insistent that you switch to IMing moreso than just suggesting it, that does seem kind of flag-raising, as it were, but... Simply wanting to talk via IMs is not anything strange. ¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
