Mods - please don't automatically move this just because it's a poll, I'm specifically asking the regular posters of P&R this question.

So the question - where do you get most of your political information?

First, "newspaper" is pretty broad, as it covers rags to papers of record.

Your poll omits my primary source, NPR, as I drive a lot.

My second source, the Internet newspaper--mainly the NY Times.

Third source, local city newspaper (print version).

NPR is an incredibly valuable learning resource.

For the news, I read my local paper daily, at least scan the local headlines from the LA Times, and follow the AP feed. For my politics fix, I start with RCP and HuffPo. From there, God only knows where Google might take me. I also record The Daily Show, and watch it the following evening. I'm currently engaged in a personal boycott of Bill Maher, but do wish he'd pull is head out his ass with the bigotry towards people of faith. An occasional 60 Minutes segment on the website.

I get very little news from TV. Part of that is because (breaking news aside) the Los Angeles stations really suck at offering it. Add that the tv schedule is set on eastern time, so the opinion shows have replaced news on the cable outlets when I get home. I'm exposed to just enough of those programs to know that I don't care for any of them. I'd like to get the local news from the cable channel, but not enough to take the best deal they offered.

Actually mostly none of the above. I get most of mine from NPR. Fortunately, they don't turn ever story into a sound bite and actually employ people intelligent enough to ask solid questions.

I think 'internet surfing' doesn't cover it....but trying to summarise sources of information isn't easy ofc. There are multinationally inhabited forums devoted to news, can get a pretty 'live' gist of what's happening where.

The Lieberal media Conspiracy, obviously.
The Grauniad and the Indie are the two papers I tend to read (along with the weeklies Private Eye and New Statesman), and I'll watch the BBC evening news. I'll also watch Question Time if there's likely to be an entertaining squabble on there. Baroness warsi seems particularly good for a shouting match at the moment, and I recommend everybody has a look on youtube for the Nick Griffin programme.
You've missed the radio off the poll, btw: Radio Four's daily news review programme Today is excellent. I dunno if you can podcasts of that in the 'States, though.
(About the only internet sources I use are the websites for the papers I read.)

I selected Internet News, but I'm not comfortable with the example for that choice, "nytimes.com etc.," or with the listing of "Huffpo etc." separately as Internet Opinion. First of all because I tend to regard the news in the NY Times as "opinion" too, and secondly because I don't consider Internet News in terms of domestic news sources. I watch Al Jazeera, France24, and others as well. And to be candid, I think it's all opinion to some degree.

On that level, the English A Jazeera network seems a lot less biased than most of Murdoch's outlets, doesn't it?

Excellent picks, you should also try our Channel 4, factual, unflinchingly partisan, and sometimes uncomfortably impartial coverage. You can almost feel the guests, on both sides of the political divide, squirming in their seats.

I get a lot from YahooNews. And the radio news. I watch that kook on MSNBC but for entertainment purposes only.
I watch O'Reilly on Fox once or twice a month.
You know why leftists don't watch Fox News? Because Obama hasn't given them "free cable" yet!

Hi...I'm quoting this post as I THOUGHT it read, "I watch Fox News", or similar. I then shook my head and decided I needed to catch up on some sleep, or perhaps it read, "I never watch Fox News".

So, I'm going to get some sleep soon, when I wake up I'm pretty certain I'll have just dreamt that someone, somewhere, actually admitted to ever watching Fox News. This quoted post will GUARANTEE me, that nobody ever stoops to such depths, or at least, not without a gun barrel pressed into his temple.

I'm sure I'll have imagined it all. There's a lot of crazy shit in the world, but I have unshakeable faith that there is still a limit to it all, somewhere, and tomorrow I'll find out one of those limits is still intact.

The world is fundamentally sane, not insane.

Jaybee, MSNBC that pos lefty network has 65,000 audience share per day.
Fox News has 40 to 50 *times* that amount of daily audience so yes, lots of people watch Fox News.
I laugh when the lefties call it "Faux News", boy don't they slip a nut whenever mentions "Fox News!" "Raa, Ra, RA RA, RA,RA,RA!"
It doesn't take a lot to get them going! lol They remind me of this old spinster lady who lived down the street from me as a kid, if you stepped on her lawn or rode your bike over it she'd be right out on the front porch screaming swear words at us! "Get off my lawn you little fucking cocksuckers!!!"

it amazes me that anyone would consider themselves 'informed' if they only listened to one sided (left or right leaning) news.

all reporters inject their beliefs into reporting, expecially in reporting politics or religion. but to call an opinion show or blog the news is going a bit far. while I may enjoy beck and or the daily show and they may include current events in their shows they are hardly the news!
