No. I think this is wrong as well.

My question was why you would highlight your own misjudgment by trying to justify it with this.

I don't feel the need to justify much to anyone outside my family. Maybe reaffirming the legality of my actions. Just seeing what the reaction would be.
Congratulations on the consistency.

Yet you condemn someone else for doing what you have admitted to?

Do as I say, not as I do?

Point: any injustice would not have been done by the Obama administration, but by a third party organization that was hired by the administration. Unless you have access to information that I haven't found - in which case, please share with the class so I can revise my opinion on the matter in light of new facts - the Obama administration was not directly involved.
Any violation of first amendment rights would have been committed by the union, connected only to the presidential administration by a simple business relationship. The union was trying to prevent any seeming hypocrisy on behalf of their client - and probably would have done the same for any other client, regardless of political affiliations.
You can't wear a Bud Light t-shirt to work at a Coors plant, you can't wear a Starbucks hat behind the counter at a local espresso joint, and you can't wear a Bush logo to set up for an Obama event.

Switch, what I was referring to was Truckin's hypocrisy in posting this thread when he has previously told us how he fired employees for voting for Obama.

And that is definitely not within the rights of an employer.

Just out of curiosity, what was the outcome of this case? Did he try to sue? Was he ever reinstated?

I also wasn't aware that unions could actually fire people. I know that they can revoke someone's membership in the union, but if the person is employed by a separate company, wouldn't it be up to the company to fire him?

Would they normally allow the stagehands to wear their own personal t-shirts? Maybe they should issue uniform t-shirts or vests.

In which we can consider the firing of a man for- I lack a better, more accurate term- politically incorrect clothing.

The case of the sweatshirted stagehand.

I disapprove of those who work against freedom.

Is this a lie or do you disapprove of yourself? On account of your admitted illegal acts to undermine democracy and the American way I ask you again, why do you hate our freedom?

Not to undermind your question, GS, because I'm waiting for him to answer too, or to at least realize that the whole post #36 is an oxymoron...but when he said the line you quoted, and you quoted it again,  it reminded me of a line George Carlin said....

"Well, if crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight?  They never mention that part to us, do they?"

switch2please -> RE: You're Fired. Revisited. (10/24/2010 1:28:14 PM)

Agreed, it's not within the rights of an employer to fire an employee for political affiliation.
I'm not sure why you quoted and responded to me if your inquiry was directed at truckinslave...but I'm glad it's cleared up now.

I love all of our freedoms. Including my right to fire.

A pretty fair example of the dissonance that is liberalism; I will forward it to Dr Rossiter for possible inclusion in a future work.
A perfect example of liberal love for free speech, too.
You are a fine representative of your kind.

Better they do as BUSH and McCapital...have them arrested and removed from even public property if need be.

No you don't, you clearly hate our right to cast our votes without being subject to coercion and intimidation.

You have no idea how lucky you are.

But keep up the good work and I'm sure one of the employees you fire is going to be owning the business you had.
