After the disastrous Bush presidency, I asked myself how the GOP would get back in the saddle. The Bushies had pretty much messed things up across the board, especially economically. The GOP has since attacked Obama for spending too much and for bailouts, but c'mon - Bush pushed the first bailout and the economy under him was pretty feeble.And he spent like a drunken sailor. The GOP couldn't really repudiate Bush and he was an albatross. Thus the Tea Party. They have repudiated the spending sprees of BOTH GOP and Dems. They have a weird existence, where they kind of fit within the GOP but not really. While they do tend to leave reality occasionally, they have a better grip on economics than the GOP, which has as an unassailable plank that tax cuts are always good and pay for themselves. So far the Tea Party has come up with some unbelievably bad candidates, such as O'Donnell, Dan Maes, Angle, etc. I'm surprised by that and don't expect them to get such bad candidates again. Everyone is focusing on the fact that these weak candidates have turned slam dunk races into competitive ones. They've stated that this weakens the GOP. What they're overlooking is that, once elected, Tea Party pols will not automatically vote the GOP party line. In other words, the Tea Party will weaken the GOP once in office, and to be honest, weaken the Dems as well. Expect massive gridlock in the short term. Hopefully, though, the Tea Party will get strong enough to absorb the GOP, and finally bury the Bush influence on the Republican Party.

honestly I find the TP candidates to be nuttier than squirrel shit. they arent moderate, they are stark staring out there beyond the fringes of normalcy and believability. I think its all a big conspiracy and that they are hiding the people who could make positive changes, I truly do not think any of them are good politician candidates. I dislike most politicians, but the panic and paranoia is worse because of these morons, not bringing uplifting hope to millions who have been under represented for donkeys years. Personally I find their whinning and panic to be amusing, because until it hit them in a bad way, they were happpy to look down on the working class and poor now its their time to suffer

Is that what happened with Scott Brown? Once he was elected he distanced himself from the teabaggers as quickly as possible and has fallen into the GOP ranks. The same with many candidates who are still running, like Joe Miller. They beat the GOP candidate in the primary and then turn to to the party for backing in the general election. It is naive to believe that these teabagger candidates will change anything.

I already voted. Quite legally. I'l be working a polling place as usual and am trying to get assigned to one suspected to be a target of vote caging by Kirk's campaign.

Control over the agenda is much more important than a few individual votes.

Steven, I think RML could have run against Dirty Harry Reid and won. I don't think it makes much differance who runs against him, he's gone. "Any" candidate is better than a bad sitting senator. Dirty Harry's problem is that there are just so many people who don't like him. From what I've read I don't think the Tea Party is "a part of" the GOP, more like outsiders that want to change it's policies. I'm sure that they'd like to absorb the GOP though. That must be what scares some GOPers. The Tea Party seems to be aggressive and growing fast. I'm all for "change" and we really do need to change a bunch of things in this country.

I would challenge you to try and separate the "tea party" from the GOP. One in the same. It would be as if the DLC suddenly proclaimed itself a party. But, I still challenge you. The fallacy is, in fact, even mentioning that it could be a separate party when it clearly isn't

For one,I have already voted this year.Flordia does have early voting and I took advantage of that.Here 's a good example of Tea Party destroying the GOP from within.The current Governor of Flordia,Charlie Crist,has basically been a "moderate" Republican for the past few year's.He bucked the Flordia GOP on a few thing,putting the people of Flordia before special party interest.The result?Well,Tea Bagged Party wasn't going to having a Charlie Crist on their team.Now Charlie Crist is running for the vacant U.S. Senate seat here in Flordia.Charlie was basically forced to ditch the Republican party and run as an Independent.Marco Rubio,the wannabe "tea bagged" back weirdo is now running on the Republican party line,not Charlie.This has been a constant theme throughout America,tea bagged party weirdo's have beaten fairly "moderate" Republican's.The "Tea Party" is just a new name with the same old actor's,that's all it is.These are the same Republican who ran this country into the ground for a good 8 year's.All they did was change their clothe's alittle and put on "tea bagged party" clothe's.The neo-con are dumb enough to believe these people are "different".Once they get into power,they will be towing the Republican party line be Karl Rove's little pet poodle.

Myself, I think it'd be nice if the teabaggers split the Repuke vote enough for the Democrats to take a few seats, if only to see how many of the right leaning ideologue zealots on here die of apoplexy as a result of that happening.

Keep an eye on the Alaska Senate vote. That race looks like it could be the biggest one where a GOP/tea party split could give a race to the Democrats.
