Malkinius -> I am surprised no one has brought this one up yet. (10/23/2010 6:45:16 PM)

Greetings all....

As the subject line says, I expected this news story to already be a hot topic over here. I see there is one selective topic out of the general Wikileaks info dump but I also expected this one to come up.

http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2010/10/wikileaks-show-wmd-hunt-continued-in-iraq-with-surprising-results/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+wired%2Findex+%28Wired%3A+Index+3+%28Top+Stories+2%29%29

It seems what some returning Iraq War vets told me was true after all and the conventional wisdom and great shouting about the topic here and elsewhere was wrong. This is one of those places where I put more trust in the people who said, I was there and this is what I saw and did over those who agenda didn't match reality.

One last thing. Picking and choosing which part of those documents to believe or deny just doesn't cut it with me. If you can compare other equal sources and show problems, that is one thing but no blanket denials just because one part doesn't fit your ideology.

Be well all.....

Malkinius

No biggie

That stuff been around since WW1-2

Owner59 -> RE: I am surprised no one has brought this one up yet. (10/23/2010 7:04:47 PM)

That shit was accounted for and already known about.Because either we sold the stuff to saddam or knew who did, what and how much.

What the noe-con liars were selling was a story that saddam was going to get nukes, soon, and drop one on us or on one of our friends.

There was never any evidence to support that conclusion.

No, we are not talking about nuclear weapons. Sadam's chief nuclear scientist said he did want them and he helped keep Sadam from getting them. The post is talking about chemical and biological weapons. Keep to the subject at hand. No side-tracks allowed. <grins> Go back and read posts mentioning WMD's in this forum. See how many people have claimed there were none ever found and it was all a lie.

Be well....

I'm confused too. We already knew he had used chemical weapons against the Kurds, and obviously had these.

Bush's bull was about nukes (remember the tubes, etc?).

I don`t care what "we" are talking about.

The line of bullshit that got us into that war was the threat of a nuke attack on us or an ally.

Of course they threw everything at the wall including chemical weapons.

Again we knew what he had because we sold it to him.We knew what his capacity was b/c we helped him build his weapons systems and chemical handling technology.

What bush and dickhead cheney told us were stories about yellow cake, mushroom clouds and unmaned planes sent from Iraq to attack us.

I don`t care who posted what here.Read the new from those years.

What was found in Iraq were things we already knew about that wouldn`t have been enough to justify invading Iraq.

That`s why we were talking about yellow cake, centrifuges and mushroom clouds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gUzD1Ud4Lk

Which was a big fucking lie.

Which also led to bush and dick to commit treason.

Remember?

I think the 44 hundred men and woman lost there deserve a look at why.

"I think we ought to declare it [the containment policy] a success. We've kept him contained, kept him in his box, he is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors, he threatens not the United States." Colin Powell 2-24-01

Please tell us oh wise and wonderful conservatives, which one was the LIE??  One of them has to be.  Sort of like the old conundrum "Two men say they're Jesus, one of them MUST be wrong.

Pretty much had the guy hiding fulltime.

He didn`t have a navy or airforce and not much of an army,no programs or capacity for WMDs.

He was also not with or connected to radical Islam. Those types were many of his victims. They were trying to kill him and he was trying to kill them.

First of all, there is far more than one Jesus alive, check any phone book. They aren't lying; their parents might have been, but they aren't.

Second, I'm not a conservative; and though I've met Gen. Powell, and find him to be a very intelligent man, I don't consider him infallible.

But in my skeptical and non-conservative opinion, those two samples you quoted prove not a damned thing about anything. Troll harder, dude.

Indeed, the link in the Op indicates some leaky shells and munitions in DISREPAIR were found. This is a long way from the Blair/Bush lie that wmds could be used to attcak the west in 45 minutes. Still I am happy to see the right trying to justify the unjust while ignore torture and the high list of civilian casualties.

Recently I posted about a UK documentary called Secret Iraq. One of the insurgents in it claimed that after the first battle of Fallujah the authorities had rounded up innocent Sunnies, most of whom were ill treated in Abu Ghraib (SP) This guy stated that although his own father had been killed by Saddam, after he had been tortured and released by the newly installed Iraqi government he then joined the insurgents, along with many others who were against both fundamentalism and AQ. These guys thought the Allies to be the worst option, so took up arms against our troops.

Instead of people discussing that point, we have a few murmurs because some rusty and or leaking shells have been found. Stuff no one here has ever denied existed [8|]

I've met Jesus, the real one, and he's a helluva guy too.

We're going out to the titty bar and have some beers tonight.

Want to come?

Why shouldn't it? The political allies of Jesus got us into this thinly veiled religious war.

Malkinius,

Key word in the whole thing is "remnants".  The article says there was no clear policy in the regime for chemical weapons. So, in other words, leftovers. Care to imagine how many remnants can be found in the former Soviet Republics? Would you then suggest that they have WMD's and we should invade?
