Republican House candidate Sean Bielat has portrayed himself as a ramrod-straight voice of reason beside Democrat Barney Frank’s bluster. But last week in a meeting with Boston Herald reporters and editor, the Marine twisted himself in knots as he argued that gays don’t have a right to serve in the military – just like short people. “There’s no absolute right to serve. Men under the height of 5 feet, 2 inches can’t serve — I don’t see anybody protesting. Where are the people standing in front of the White House, the short guys standing in front of the White House? You don’t see it,” Bielat said. “We understand that there’s no absolute right to serve in all these other areas.”

My ex-wife was short......do I need to say more.Fuck my son is short too...I can still remember being in his peditricians office,it was his check-up prior to h.s. freshman year.The Doc happens to mention that ,considering he has gone thru puberty and all,that he is pretty much done height wise....he looks at me aghast.....I immediately reach into my pocket and hand him my cell phone...."call your mother,I(6'1") had nothing to do with that.
Damm,raising that kid was fucking fun.......

Armed Forces liked short men as tunnel rats in Vietnam and ball turret gunners in WWII. I'd say, like so many republicans, that marine failed history.

Randy Newman - Short People




NO ONE ever gets this song, it isn't about Newman's feelings it is a parody of societal attitudes.  Which reminds me of the Dire Straits tune "Money for Nothing", again not a reflection of Knopfler's feelings but rather the musical reporting, of an actual conversation overheard by him. 

The resulting parody is missed due to either stupidity, or political correctness.

If people get the joke they usually do not hate the tune, same with Money for Nothing, and the second verse that all radio stations are too pussified to play any more. 

I speak of course the verse that goes:

"See the little faggot, with the earring and the makeup, yeah buddy that's his own hair.  The little faggot got his own jet airplane. The little faggot he's a millionaire."

Most of the gays I know are more offended by radio stations clipping this verse, than actually playing it.
