MCLady,

I applaud foster parents, too. My point was parents DO NOT get their kids back after x amount of years. There is a time limit. And it isn't x amount of years. It's about one.

Yep, the people who are giving you flak are probably the same people that are convinced the ethos and customs of their own little tribe are universal moral codes and should be enforced on the world at gunpoint. Go for what feels right.

Personally, I like kids better once the mind develops enough to show signs of personhood instead of an eating, pooping, and sleep deprivation machine. I went through the 2am feedings and the walking the screaming kid for hours and would not want to repeat the experience. I still chuckle at the picture I have, the car had broken down, of me on my motorcycle with four 96 packs of diapers bungeed around me.

To hell with what people say. Go for it. Adoption is a far, far better, and more responsible choice, on every level. Personally, I think it is far more selfish, and more than a little narcissistic, to insist on adding still more humans to a world already drowning in the buggers (not to mention the many problems they produce- from pollution to urban sprawl to the extinction of their fellow creatures).
