New Ad ties Barney Frank to FANNIE and FREDDIE - 10/27/2010 8:51:04 AM

Status: offline 		We all know that Bush got blamed for the Mortgage crisis even though he warned Congress years earlier that they needed to tighten the reigns on FANNIE and FREDDIE. Even after the collapse, during a hearing, Senator Chris Dodd a democrat refused to require higher down payments which would prove that someone is able to make the payments even though a financial emergency may arise.

Someone who is able to save for a down payment, can also save for an emergency, and can usually handle the unexpected expenses such as car repairs, home repairs, and deductibles on hospital bills.

Finally, we have an Ad who spells it out for the American people.

P.S. Did anybody see the remaining 4/5ths of the blame mentioned in that ad anywhere? I must have missed it.

now barney Frank is synonymous with freddie and fannie but this is somehow news?

I do agree with this.

However.....

Blind and foolish also applies to those who overlook Wall Street's role in this. Once Wall Street created their insurance schemes, then what private, for-profit bank would not want to crowd ahead of Fannie and Freddie in line for the opportunity to lend to poor people as well?  Up until then, the banks could not profit from giving mortgages to poor people, as they were simply too risky. After the insurance mechanism was invented by Wall St, then every bank went after Fannie & Freddie clientele for profit. Poor people became a new, previously untapped profit center for the banks, since if the poor people defaulted, then the insurance would kick in and make good.  In the end, the banks created 80% of the liars loans, and Fannie & Freddie held the bag for 20%. 

Unfortunately for the imploded banks and the taxpayer, Wall Street's insurance mechanism turned out to be a ponzi scheme.

I can't buy into the argument that government's 1/5th of the problem is the entire problem.  Only the blind and foolish do.

Phil Gramm is the #1 guy behind the legislation that allowed Wall Street to create their 'insurance' ponzi scheme. He is the #1 guy behind the remaining 4/5th's of the blame.  At the time, his wife was on the Board of Directors at Enron, and well, Enron was the first casualty of the gambling enabled by his legislation. Where is Phil Gramm today? He works for UBS, that Swiss bank that shields the assets of wealthy Americans overseas. After legislatively enabling Wall Street's shadow casino, he is now over there protecting the elite's gambling winnings.  Good ole Phil needs some Texas-style justice, the kind involving a rope and a pickup truck....

The #2 guy in line for 4/5ths of the blame would be Greenspan. If it wasn't for this Randite in charge of the money supply flooding the nation with cash, the majority of the loans to the poor would not have been finance-able. The actual cash for lending in those situations would not have existed.

LOL DYB ! It didn't get past me. You may not have noticed but I haven't been posting much the last few weeks.
The last two weeks I have been working alot of hours down at Sean Bielat's HQ and Charlie Baker's HQ. So after toiling away at the political game all day in real life, I really don't have the energy or time to get into it here.


I tell you what tho..... I will have a drink in your honor at the Victory party OR I will have a drink in your name after the concession speech.

DYB, I've been helping out Tim Scott here in S.C. the last few days by putting up signs and replacing signs along the road that "someone" ripped out.
Which campaign have you been helping out?
I predict that Scott will take 60% of the vote.

MBMBN, yeah, I've given them four hours in the afternoon the last few days putting in and replacing signs in the southern end of Myrtle Beach.
The first day there was another guy with me and we were pounding in a sign and he said, "hey, look in the ditch, a democrat!"
It was a big black snake! lol
I wish it would get cold, I don't like letting Bubba out with those things crawling about at night.
Oh yeah, I hear that the momentum is really starting to swing in Sean Bielat's favor up there! Howie's had him on a few times and that really helps any candidate! Barney knows he's going to lose.
He had Frank Guinta on too and it looks like it's curtains for Carol Shea-"Pelosi" up in New Hampshire. She *never* listened to the constituants.
And yes, I do put my money where my mouth is, I sent Tim a check as well. And he called me the next week and thanked me and gave me his phone number! Nice guy! You can tell he'll *listen* to his constituants *first* and not go off and vote for what (he) thinks is right or what the lobbyists want him to vote for.
That's great that you're working on two campaigns! It's fun isn't it? You meet a lot of nice people and have fun!
Yeah, I guess we're "an item" now so let 'em talk!

Status: offline 		I became unemployed in March and after a while there is only so much to do to keep yourself busy and productive. I figured I may as well do " something " to earn my government check. I was already working for Baker and added Bielat to my "time donation list".

Yep, it is fun. I have made some great aquaintences, had alot of laughs and pulled my hair out too.

I'm not convinced Bielat is going to unseat Frank. But we have a big weekend planned and hopefully catch those undecided votes between now and Tuesday.

I know, DYB. This is the first time in my life I have ever taken a penny from the government. I do work part time tho, so I only collect a partial check. And quite seriously, I do struggle with taking it. I've worked since I was 13, so I try to rationalize it as it's money I have put in, the company that laid me off pays a good portion and I still work a little and that money is taxed, so in a way, I am contributing to my own govt check. And since I got a very good severence package, I didn't start collecting until June.

I'm a nurse and there was a day not too long ago, I could walk into any facility and start a new job the next day. Not so at this time with the economic crunch. Two major Hospitals here have had major lay offs. Many hospitals and nursing facilities are simply not filling existing vacancies. And the prediction for hospital lay offs nation wide is expected to set an all time record high.
