Police Officers FIRED for being TEA Party Members Today I received a plea for help from the Tawakoni Area TEA Party. They have a Mayor that is out of control and hates the TEA Party too. He has fired 2 long time officers for no other apparent reason than the simple fact that they belong to the local TEA Party chapter.

most teabaggers would support a business or government right to do that, its constitutional, and most of the same nutsuckers support prisonplanet.

so, you got friends both ways.

Yes, that's probably why somebody fired a couple of rozzers for membership of a pressure group.

When I was in Americore we were not allowed to push any party- or religion- it was a code of conduct thing.

So you're saying that the Police should be allowed to do that, then?

I am saying ALL govt workers should not be allowed to proselytize.

While they can have their own personal life-  they should not bring it on the job.

Then why are you complaining about a couple of them being fired for doing that very thing?

It is not clear what they wore to the event- and if it was personal time or paid time.

So you're quite happy to accept the teabagger line that it was an unjust dismissal, despite not knowing all the facts of the matter?

Personally, i dont believe we have enough information. If this is the only reason why those men were fired, a law suit will quickly follow.

I agree.   The article might have provided better details.

A Tea-bagging cop is like a Republican public school teacher or a Libertarian doctor.   Government spending is wrong, unless it pays the mortgage.

Only 15 states out of 50 ban the firing of employees based on what employees do at home on their own time. We have bigger fish to fry. There is still 35 states that allow employers to come into your home and judge your eligibility of employment based on what you do for leisure activities when off the clock and off the employer's premises.

I can't find anyone but the tea party saying this   I even checked the local paper which was mute on the subject.    sounds like politics of disinformation to me, if not, then I wonder if they were doing something on paid time or unpaid time (which the employer has no control over)

You know Pahunk, I would agree this is wrong.

But when the source of the story is Alex and Prison Planet then I'm going to call bullshit on it.

Let me know if you find a credible source to back this up.

In all honesty, the only story i can find, even in the local papers there is the following one indicating a Texas rangers investigation into three officers of Police Chief Jack Schultz. Dated Dec 2009.

Could be this is all a lie.

Could be this is part of the investigation as well.

Tazz thank you for your intelligent discussion on this.

(yes- I am not being flippant)

No matter what the link- any story needs to be deconstructed- weather it is Alex or MSM.   Simply bashing the source does not impress me.   Arriving at what happened via a de-construct does impress me.

We should never just blindly accept a media pronouncement.
