Something like the statue of liberty.  That would be more appropriate gift for the US.

Not exactly.  US presidents tho are beholden to banking interests.   Alot of factors played into it-   the point is- that the president is just a figure head, has no real power.

Status: offline 		This is hysterical.  We're supposed to take a story seriously from a site that is taking this poll,  "Do you believe that Rh Negatives and Jews are blood drinking shape shifting reptilians?".

The deal was this.  the Government is not selling stock.  The are holding it until the time GM can pay the back.

I like Cross pens.  The old pens leak.


Sadly, Cross is an American brand (you can tell because the pens are manufactured in China). Somebody in Broon's office went to the trouble of finding something British and historically interesting, as well as valuable, for the Kenyan. Hopefully nobody will feel obliged to make any effort along those lines when dealing with him in future. How much does the DVD of that Doctor Who episode where John Simm shoots the American President through the head go for? Get the Kenyan a region 2 DVD of that, next time.

Old pens don't necessarily leak. I have several that are older than I am (at least four are older than my parents, come to that), which work perfectly, without leaking. As rubber perishes, a lot of old pens can need sacs and diaphragms replaced, but a lot more don't. The Parker 51, which uses a vinyl ink sac and an acryllic body, is almost impossible to break unless you do something really stupid to the nib, to pick an obvious example.
(Oh, and the nibs, and often the fittings are gold, dig?)

Ok- on gifts- I would think the staffs arrange all that.

A president by law can not accept something over a certain value... that the gift is property of the country unless Obama then would purchase the gift at fair market value.

I doubt it was a jab- a snub.    Factor in the American deplore titles and are ignorant of alot of that protocol.

What's a DVD?

I'm still using my Betamax, though it's hard to find anything to play on it anymore.

And does anyone know where I can find eight-track tapes?
