ORIGINAL: DomYngBlk Don't tread on me? What a joke. The law was bought and paid for by big business. In this case big Prison business. They want the US Gov't to swing big dollars their way with illegal immigrants. I thought republicans were for smaller gov't. Business doesn't need the gov't does it? Is it all a sham? Where are the baggers? http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=130833741 DYB, Obama is the one who claims that enforcing our immigration laws is the business (solely) of the federal govt. so you'd have to ask him. What does this have to do with the baggers? One would think they'd be against this. Surely Obama is aware of those contracts with private prison companies, there's no way he can't be. And if the feds were doing their job in the first place those private prison companies wouldn't be neccessary would they? Exactly pops, but I don't see anyone filling this thread with outrage. And, yes, that is exactly what would happen if the Fed did its job and arrested anyone coming across the border and detained them in the US. In fact, it is happening already. Talk about a complete waste of money....... DYB, normally illegals are only kept in custody for 4-8 hours before being deported to Mexico. Are the prisons you're talking about for illegals who've committed serious or violent crimes?
