cat stevens has been a muslim since the seventies, salman rushdie has been an enemy of iran since the 70s, what does it have to do with the fact Cat stevens was singing ?

I respected the former Cat Stevens for deliberately examining and choosing a faith he found relevant for himself. I lost respect for him when he agreed with the fatwah against Rushdie.

I think it would have been very cool to have been at the rally.
