Am I the only one fighting the urge?  They are right over there.  The bags of chocolate to pass out to the little visitors that will come to the door tonight.  The snickers are whispering to Me that it's only 80 calories if I take just one.  The milky ways and three musketeers bars, both pipe up to say how many bars would only be 50 calories from fat.  Somehow, they know.  They know that I am tempted to eat them!  It's just a question of how long it will be before I snatch one.

Have you caved and eaten any of the treats for tonight?

It is a terrible thing for me, i can't resist for very long. That's why i hand out things i can resist, like any kind of sour candy, or gummi eyeballs, or other kinds of things that are NOT chocolate! [;)]

I broke into the bag of tootsie rolls.......I couldn't help it, the little buggers were sitting there teasing me!!!!!

We give juice boxes and odds & ends... I am saving the fruit punches for last!!

TribeTziyon -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 9:17:49 AM)

The whoppers didn't last long.

soul2share -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 9:25:01 AM)

I figured I'd be safe with the big bag of tootsie roll midgees...there's like 500 in the bag, and even I can't polish that many off!

MysticFireTopaz -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 11:22:19 AM)

I don't even get trick or treaters, so don't buy any candy.  I did get my share of red licorice and Reese's peanut butter cups at a Halloween party last night, though.

hlen5 -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 11:27:27 AM)

This is why I only buy candy that I DON'T like!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 11:38:34 AM)

Not sharing tonight...We live out in the boonies so we don't pass out candy.

Besides if we did celebrate Samhain, I would get some mead and have my own party.

Wait...I know Mom has some rum in the fridge...(WEG)

soul2share -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 11:47:31 AM)

Well, I got candy, because for the first time in like 15 years, I'm actually off for Halloween.....losing your job seems to give you tons of free time...personally, I'd rather be working!  I know there seems to be tons of kids in the neighborhood, at least there are a lot of them after school outside yelling and screaming.....so, I'm hoping that the little buggers show up here, because I'm NOT keeping all this candy around the house!

Worse comes to worse, I'll walk down the street to the elementary school and give it to them........they can fill the office candy dishes up.

calamitysandra -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 2:12:52 PM)

I resisted until the last of the trick or treaters had gone, then I succumbed and fished out one piece each of my favourites.
The rest is now stored securely, as the 11th is St. Martins day, which is the traditional candy gathering day for kids in Germany. They go from house to house with quite beautiful, and often intricate lanterns they crafted themselves, offering songs for candy.
Halloween is still a very recent addition around here.

SassySouthrnLady -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 2:21:04 PM)

I always fight the urge! The candy whispers my name, calling me to come eat it. LOL

My solution that seems to cause the least amount of damage to my resolve is to wait until today to go out and pick up what I'll give out tonight. Even with that, I'll be munching on any of the good stuff that is left over. The stuff I don't like that's left (if any) goes out to my daughter's best friend's house and her kids scarf it up. LOL

soul2share -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 2:22:58 PM)

Well, I'm in trouble.....I just asked my neighbor how many kids they usually get around here....he said there weren't any last night, and the year before there weren't any......ponders how long it would take to send my candy to Germany.......now would be the time that the kids should start showing up at doors, and there isn't a brat in sight!

I guess they don't T or T anymore on the actual night......that's how we did it when I was a kid...back in the Stone Age......crap.

MistressRosalyn -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 2:53:37 PM)

I didn't buy any, if I do give out candy, word gets around my small town and I get inundated with truckloads of kids. So I thought I was pretty safe, until I went to work on Wednesday, and found that they had already purchased candy to be given out. I held out through Wednesday and Friday, but my resolve crumbled yesterday, and I succumbed to the call of the Hershey's Kiss while I surveyed the Milky Way and Snickered at Baby Ruth.

I can tell ya, it wasn't pretty.

why lie to myself. i know i'm going to eat most of it. everyone knows that chocolate isnt safe with me. so why delay the inevitable ?

Tantriqu -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 6:20:23 PM)

Bought two big bags of mini chocolate bars which aren't my favourites to give out . . . and a wee one of the ones I love: Crunchie, caramilk and kitkat, which I cleverly left at work.
Had a bowl of apples for kids whose parents are treat nazis, plus bought cream and a bag of Kraft caramels to melt for caramel apples tomorrow -- and a bottle of mead! Had to [scoff] try the latter since I'd never had this brand before: yum!

PeanutTigerinBox -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 7:46:45 PM)

no treats and door knocking over here...and nope, I don't miss that sort of stuff as it was never really part of my life [:)] (though my mum told me she was embarrassed when as a kid I went from door to door with a german-canadian friend...[:D])

obviously depends on the area from germany as st. martins day has nothing to do with sweets in my town. we always get there a hot sausage in a roll after we walk through the town (behind st. martin on his horse) with the laterns and not at all from house to house.

eihwaz -> RE: How Long Can You/Did You Fight It? (10/31/2010 9:01:23 PM)

We don't get trick-or-treaters in the woods where I live.  But there were large baskets of Mini 3 Musketeers and Butterfingers at my local health club.  I succumbed immediately (after my workout!).
