It doesnt matter if your alone or not, you could have fought the ticket, odds are the cop wouldnt have remembered you and the case would have been dismissed (in one of my speeding tickets the cop was sitting next to me in the court room and called me a no show, I waited for everything to go along the cop left, and pointed out that I was here the entire time next to the cop, I must not be that much of a menace to society. And I was speeding, 15 miles an hour more then what the ticket said......)

Anywho Points go away 3 points per year in PA, suspensions stay for 5 years and tickets depending on the point amount stay 3 years.

Wither or not you were in the wrong (you have to stop completely at stop signs? that pause look both ways continue on doesnt fly? (joke))  Isnt on debate, so stop arguing and call geico, 1-800-861-8380  say you want a quote and Viola, Youll know if its still there, my Gieco agent told me when one ticket was comming off my record I heart you still Sam.

It must be a state by state thing because i can't find one for Tennessee or Illinois.  I know a lot of States simply say you must come to a complete stop.  But maybe laws are changing.

So i would be curious how many people in how many States would actually know how many seconds their laws require them to stop or if the have a second law.

You got two tickets for not coming to a full stop in a school zone. That says right there that you were not driving properly. Not stopping means if a kid had darted into the street you could have hit one.

We would have a great deal more respect for you if you would admit your errors instead of whining how it wasn't your fault, the radar gun must not be right, the cop had it in for you, etc.

This is where RealOne is 100% correct. He has not had a license in many years- and as such never gets a ticket.


I seldom bother myself lately.

I am rethinking this based on what barelyangel said. You felt you were stopped because the car paused, but the reality was there was still forward momentum that the radar gun picked up. You 'stopped', felt rushed with the cars behind you and went.
Had you stopped and counted to 4 or whatever... but you didn't know (even though you should have).
From another post you said you fussed with the cop, and you think that is why he singled you out the second time. That is more than possible, because of course he gave you the ticket, and there you were again, he remembered your car and he wanted to know if you learned the first time. And you did the exact same thing.

The only part, I have a hard time understanding is that for me personally, (and this is not a comment on you) I would have been so paranoid I would have made damn sure I was stopped at that intersection.

What I was taught when having driving lessons was to put my car in neutral and then switch it back into gear as that takes the required amount of time to show that it has stopped. I still do this 25 years later and have never got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign (only works for manual cars obviously)

I'd like to share an interesting little incident that happened today while stopped at an intersection.

I came to a complete stop (I'm anal enough to count to 5 before I pull forward) and before I could put my foot to the gas, the woman behind me blew her horn. After leaving the intersection, she tailgated me all the way to the bank, where we both ended up. When I got out of the car, I asked her why she blew her horn at me. She told me I needed to learn how to drive. This coming from a woman who had two kids with her a suburban that she had to park using two spaces and all done while talking on her cellphone.

We have a saying where I work..."Your lack of proper planning does not constitute an emergency on my part." Is it wrong of me to say I take perverse pleasure in driving the actual speed limit and following the traffic laws? [;)]

OP, I hope you learned something during your 30 day suspension. It was a costly experience, I'm sure, but I hope it made you a better and more conscientious driver.

I'm questioning the comment about a "radar gun" that can tell if you've stopped for a certain amount of time.  In all my years, I've never seen anything even remotely close to anything like that.  Radar guns are used for speed, not stopping.  Failure to comply with a traffic control device (Stop sign) is an on-view ticket....meaning the officer has to actually see the offense happen in order to write the ticket.

And I have to agree with the others.....screw the people behind you....when in a school zone, STOP at the sign!  Kids dart out of nowhere without looking around to check for traffic, and even the 8 year olds have cell phones and get texting and lose complete awareness of what's going on around them.

One ticket for blowing the stop sign, maybe...but 2?  I'm not buying off on it......

I launched past all the BS, you are screwed until this is cleared up. All states have reciprocity and you won't get a license anywhere, believe me I have looked into it. There was Louisiana for a while, but then (IIRC) other states stopped recognizing their licenses. May have been anothe rstatem not sure. Up until about the 1970s or so one state would still issue license plates on an MSO, but those days are over.

Contrary to popular belief you do not havce tyo satisfy every tin dictratorship you have ev er gotten a ticket in, all you have to satisfy is the state. This may mean dealing with the separate municipalities, but that is bot my call. If they are not out to pick you up off the street and throw you in jail, they usuallu settle for alot less, and time is definitely on your side. The older the offending ticket the better. the longer it goes on, the more likely they are to settle for something rather than nothing.

Simply put, unless youve been really really bad, you won't need ten grand for a lawyer, but you have to know what you are doing.
