“[The Tea Party] is an organic movement. You can’t tell them who to vote for or who not to. That is anti-American. The people want to take creative control of the election,” said Steele. “Again, that’s what frustrates … Republicans within in the party with establishment types who think they know more than the people about who they want to lead them.”

Am i the only one who has an issue with this sentiment? Maybe im reading it wrong, but it seems to me he is indicating that the established Republicans know whats best.

I don't have a problem with it.   My intrepretation is that he is telling the establishment to quit telling people what they want and listen to what the people want.  After all, who knows more than the people about what they want?   I also think he is telling people to quit hiding behind "anonymous" when talking to the media.  More or less I think he is telling the establishment to shit or get off the pot   and with that I concur

I agree with Ken.

It sounds like Steele is telling "establishment" Republicans to listen, instead of trying to torpedo other Republicans.

Good advice, but Steele should have said it months ago.

Steele hasn't been my favorite Chairman.

He isnt someone i would look to for leadership, thats for sure. Guess im biased against the "shut up" part.

The GOP establishment wants to throw Steele out on his ear.  So he's trying to appeal to the Tea Partiers.

His job is to tell the GOP to shut up, and listen, that's what leaders do.

Like Firm said, he should have done it two months ago.

Two months ago he was in the news for a small error in the tracking of some 7 million dollars in the RNC warchest...........apparently, he knows when to STFU as well.

Not a good time to be telling anyone anything, but with the attention deficit suffered by most Americans he's allie allie in free again.
